~ Have you had any experience with either? ~ Can you share your experience and preference? ~ What are your recommendations about radio equipment to use? ![]() ![]() Had to chime in here, I sub to both of them. I have a better experience with XM over Sirius! I recently had to call Sirius over a bill problem and log in problem to get to my account and was on HOLD for an hour and seventeen minutes! Found out that the problem was something on their end and they even gave me a credit of $12 where they goofed on my bill! Wow, twelve bucks! The customer support people were hard to understand (Not From The US) and when you can log into your account to take care of your bill, I recommend you do so to avoid that phone wait! Bought the Sirius radio back in October 08. XM had service with them for over 5 years. I own 2 Delphi Skyfi radios the I & II and the kids have a Roady to themselves and love the service! If you are going to get either XM or Sirius I recommend with either radio get one that has the FM Radio transmitter built in that you can tune around the entire band. Do your researches on that but the radios really depend on user preference? Some have Replay where you can play the song again or 40 minutes or so of music, some store hours of your favorite programming for playback. Some only store music in the memory for playback as long as the radio is on but loses the recorded parts when powered off. My take on any radio you might want to buy is get one that suits your preference, dash size, and what accessories you might want to use later on. If you get a car docking system it is fine but I guarantee that there will be a time that you will want to take it inside and will need a home dock kit. Do your searching around with scenarios like what if I want to expand later and what is available for this radio when I want too! Web access to your bill and online radio streaming. Both providers provide this service and will allow you to make a Credit Card payment, change your information and listen to live “Limited” streams to certain channels. They offer standard stream service as basic standard and for a little more a month they have a better bit stream of music. Not bad but the basic is fine and sounds great if you work at your office desk and can listen live if the boss will let you. The only drawback on both logins to access your account BOTH PROVIDERS make you type in those pesky “Type in the 4 characters as they are shown and click OK!” Them little scrambled letters and numbers we all hate! I hate doing this every time I have to get to my account. Antennas too can make a difference! Make sure you follow the directions to the letter when installing them. Sirius has a kit that has an antenna that goes closer to the car antenna like a mini repeater. I never had to use it but I guess there is some installs that will need this kit. FM Modulators, although the radio is capable of transmitting on any clear frequency on the dial, since I travel allot with mine I have found that I have to constantly change the frequency due to strong FM broadcast stations. It is bet to get a FM modulator that hooks directly to your factory car radio between the antenna. This is the best way to get the sound sounding perfect without any static or problems with big FM stations. Overall I feel that there are channels on XM I love and Sirius also and even though the merger has programming from both providers across the channels on both. I would say if I had to pick it would be XM Satellite Radio for service, customer support, programming and web access your bill. And do not be fooled by either provider when you see Sirius Everything or XM Everything that you get all channels offered from either provider. You don’t! You only get a select pick of sports, music and talk radio channels selected by each provider. You don’t get all the XM channels if you get XM Everything on your SIRIUS Sub and you don’t get SIRIUS Everything or all SIRIUS channels on your XM sub just select channels they pick. More information on both providers: SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO XM SATELLITE RADIO
