    WILDBLUE Upload/Download Speed Check

I have had WildBlue since May 2006. I was having disconnect problems due to my dish alignment and an installer repointed it today. During the testing mode, he went to "http://speakeasy.net" and ran their upload download test. You must choose a city near you. Doesn't seem too accurate, but mine came out: Download=378kbps upload=102kbps

    Anyone try it?

I get more consistent results from www.testmy.net/d_load.php and the results agree favorably with my FTP transfers.

Have you checked out www.wildblue.cc ?

Thanks for the info. I tried the "testmy" site and it is more consistent. I had not seen the Wildblue.cc site before.

I am VERY pleased with my WildBlue Internet satellite system.

My family and I are very happy with WildBlue also. Don't get me wrong, if cable or DSL was available we would switch in a heartbeat, but satellite is so much better than dial-up. As long as you can tolerate the latency, and I don't do twitch gaming or VOIP, so it does not bother me. I have had the system for 13-months and have had 1 outage on my end from hardware failure, and of course the rain fades which correspond fairly well with those of my DirecTV, and the Laredo ground station has had miscellaneous brief outages. But overall, I get the advertized "max" speeds during off peak hours and run at about 75%-85% of max speeds druing peak hours.
