Meter Battery Performance

It is Winter and weather is cold outside. What does that have to do with signal meters? It does. It impacts the battery performance of your unit/

If you notice that the battery is no longer holding enough charge, check the following:

1- Disconnect the battery from the unit.
2- Leave it disconnected for 30 mins.
3- Reconnect and charge again.
4- Make sure you don't leave your signal meter outside in the COLD when not in use. That will affect the performance of the battery.
5- Always store the meter at room temperature.

i dont know if its weather affected, but i charged my birdog meter yesterday nite.. in the morning i got the install, after a min or 2 of peaking and looking for the satellite.. i left the meter outside for about 40mins it suddenly the meter is down to 0 charge!! the weather outside was about 35degrees but felt like 30 up in the roof.

is the battery dead how can i replace it?

I feel the pain too, avex_vu

Now that the cold weather is here the battery performance of my Birdog sucks the big wazoo -- its really bad. I aligned only 4 dishes today and on the last one the battery indicator read 89 % and then the meter suddenly read "BATTERY LOW" and crapped out...

Good thing the Birdog comes with a 12 volt car charger -- or else I'd be screwed

I also notice that the signal strength reading you get in the cold weather is lower than usual -- but the actual signal strength of the dish is still good; so not to worry.

So I guess the trick is to keep the meter warm as much as possible. I'm now starting to leave the meter in the customer's house until I'm ready to use it -- even the cab of the truck may be too cold.

Don't forget your meter at the customer's house, otherwise you will have to make a trip back and that isn't funny...

The battery of these meters are very sensitive to cold temperature. Best to keep it in the car and charging while driving.

When you park for the night, take the meter to the house with you.
