Help me, can't find VTV4
oKAY. I've been working with pansats for about 4 years now. Just recently I tried to get vtv4 using my pansat 2500a. I did all the reading i could find and i still haven't found that damn channel. Here is my setup.
-FortecStar 30+inch dish
-ku universal Lnbf
pansat settings
97w
universal 1 lnb
disq off
skew 45
11966 H 22000
Did every scan i could and the only thing I got was 3 chinese channels.
Frustrating.....
well, if you got an idea or solution...please share.
after scaning 11966 H 22000, the only fta channels i get are CCTV4, CCTV9, CCTV E&F, CHNL 43. All four are excellent in sound and picture

Were the 3 chinese channels named CCTV? If they were it sounds like you are on G3 at 95w.Also check if you have 10600 set for your lo.Hope this helps.

hummmm....
I just figured out that cctv, cctv9, and cctv e&f, are from 95w. I know that vtv4 is from 97w. So how far is 97 from 95?
I thought that if i had my receiver on 97w, it would only pick up 97w.....why would it show quality(signal) on 95w??????
what do i do now?

when you set your lnb to universal in antenna setup menu it should be set at 9750 10600.most receivers sets this automatic when you select universal lnb.

receivers don't know what sat they are on and a lot of sats use simlar freq so you could scan in from a different sat. also if you do a blind scan it's going to find the avaiable freq.

You need to rotate your dish WEST just a bit and do a blind scan and you will pick up 97W.

I managed to get a redneck solution for deg on the pole mount.
About the thickness of 2 bank cards / credit cards is about 2.5 to 3 deg.
If you have marked on the pole where the dish mount connects and then about the same distance as 2 bank card thickness should get you to 97W from 95W about 3mm or 2/16 inch give or take some.
Works on my 90cm / 36" setup.
Skew
if at 0.3 then just leave it at 0, anything from 3.0 , 5.0 , 10.0 is worth messing with as 0.3 is so small that you have to be a real plastic surgeon to get that setup correctly.
Universal lnb
= 9750 and 10600 if you do not have a "universal" named option to select. Also check lnb as it might have info on it stating this or different numbers.
Higly recommended is either a HH motor or a signal finder maybe thr JVI 10 signaloc $60.
With a motor there is whitesprings.tv on 129W as well as a bunch of nice channels on G10R all FTA.
Might also try to search for "twinhan 102g" as there is an extensive amount of info to get it propperly setup and a lot of tricks to get optimum channels etc.
Hope this helps.

you can also use a sewing tape on the pole to see how far you have moved the dish as this will wrap around the pole and can be glued to it if you want.

if you are using the receiver to find 97w move the dish about a 1/16 th of a inch west and allow 15 to 20 seconds for the receiver to see the change also make sure you are using a active TP on 97w.

The elevation of the dish must change from 95W to 97W up or down.

you will need to tilt it down, but just a tad (very very very little). don't mess with the skew for now.

Actually, it depends where you live. If you are east of Dallas which is at 97W, then tilt dish up, if you are west of Dallas, then down if you are going from 95 to 97W.
