Channel Masters new 1009IFD satmeter for Direcway system

Guys,
I bought the 1009IFD for Direcway 2way broadband system.
Signal strenght (SS ) reading on all or most Satellite is showing 99 but I am not getting anything on the PQ ( Picture Quality ). Am I doing something wrong or does my meter need calibration or adjustment?
Does anybody have any info that I can use.
Thanks,
miclow.

Your 1009IFD needs calibrataion

All of these digital meters need calibrating after you have set the data set you will use into the meter. When I calibrated my 1009IFD I just connected to a known good dish feed and used the mode button to get into the calibration screens to set both the 'lebel' and BER. Keep these values below 99 so the digital progress bar does not "top out" when you get a good strong signal. Further instructions come on the meter's enclosed data sheet. Great meter!!

BTW: This is an answer to a year old post but for those who are just setting up their meter for the first time I thought I would respond.

Thanks ido for answering an old post. I wish more members would take the time to dig up and reply to old posts, especially unanswered ones.

Good work... 8)

ido, thank you for remiding users to re-calibrate their meters. We have full instructions posted here as well: http://sathawk.tv/Instructions.htm

The Sathawk 3000 is the latest digital meter we are introducing in the USA. We are working closely with the manufacturer to improve this meter and add more features. The Channel Master 1009IFD and the 10-SignalocPro are predecessor meters to the Sathawk 3000.

For what its worth -- the Birdog doesn't need any calibrating. Works great right out of the box...
