POWERSAT PS5 and VTV4 - Instructions?

Last week, I accidently reset my POWERSAT PS5 FTA reciever and lost my parents' VTV4 (Hanoi) channel. I tried the 11966, 22000, 97W but the problem is that my receiver does not have Telstar 5 in the list. The close it has is Telstar 12 but it does not work.

The guy that setup my FTA satellite is nowhere to be found and I'm clueless how to setup to get the VTV4 channel back again. I can get other channels such as the Tawain, Russia, Hong Kong, and other channels but I cannot figured out how to get the VTV4 channel back.

The only reason why I bought the FTA satellite system is to let my parents view the Vietnamese channel but without it, the FTA satellite system is useless.

Can you give me the instructions step by step on my POWERSAT PS5 FTA satellite how to setup it to receive the VTV4 channel again?

The only russian channels I know, are on that satellite, so you don't need to look for name. VTV-4 is on the same transponder, as Russia Today, you just need to rescan that transponder: 11966, H, 22000.
If your receiver needs PIDs, for VTV4 they are : VPID 3105, APID 3106, PPID 3105

There is Intel AM 5K (Intel_AM_5K) in the list which you are referring?

Did you try to leave PIDs set to "Auto"?
Are you able to view Russia Today, Miracle Channel, TRT and other channels from this transponder? What is signal quality?
What are menu options for scanning in your receiver, does it have something, like "Manual Scan" or "TP scan"? I would use that, select 11966 H from the list, and scan this way

You can "fool" any receiver into "thinking" its on the right satellite simply by adding a transponder to the list and scanning it. I am not familiar with the receiver you have but somewhere in the installation setup there will be a choice called "Edit transponder" or "Add transponder"; just set the parameters as others have advised in this thread and scan it -- VTV4 should come in. If not, it is possible that you have to re-tweak the dish or get a larger dish. There has been some talk of problems with getting VTV4 lately -- seems that people with a dish smaller than 80 cm can't get VTV4 very well if at all. What kind of dish do you have and how big is it?

I'm not see any of the "Edit transponder" or "Add transponder" option from the menu but I can change the values from the list such as to 11966 for example and as the satellite size, it's seems like a mid-range average sized satellite.

I have been able to watch the VTV4 channel over a year now but just recenly lost it around three weeks ago now due to the "RESET" mistake.

And how exactly do I "re-tweak the dish" may I ask?

BTW, what is the value for LNB?

As I see you don't have any channels from this transponder:11966 H 22000, RRSat Global Network. Check Lyngsat for the channels you are missing:
http://www.lyngsat.com/ia5.html
Go for "TP Edit" menu and add this transponder:

TP add:
Transponder 11966
Symbol Rate 22000
Polarization H(orizontal)

If that screen has a progress bars, showing a signal and quality strength,
make sure they show acceptable values (green), if not, move antenna a little bit (less than a degree, very small adjustment, mark the mast and bracket before you move it, at least you can return to the previous point, if lost a signal completely) to the East until signal improves.
Scan the new added transponder, by doing "Search".
Hope this will help

That didn't worked. BTW, I went to my grandfather's house yesterday to check his frequency since he has the same satellite system, and I found out that his frequency for the VTV4 channel is 11967, and not 11966 that was advised.

I then went home and tried with that frequency and still it didn't work.

one or two points don't mean that much as lnb's can have that much freq drift.

Oh I see and a weird thing is that my grandfather's satellite system can receive over 180 channels while I am only getting around 50 channels and we both live in the same city, near Houston.

Another thing that I noticed is that when viewing the VTV4 channel on his satellite, the RRSat is on the screen (the blue info box) for a few seconds. How can I get that RRSat on the list since it not on the original list?

Seems like I am not getting any of the 11966 frequency channnels such as the VTV4, Russia Today, and etc.
Does the Longitude and Latitude settings have any affect in order to receive the VTV4 channel? If yes, what is the values for those?

RRSat Global Networks is a provider for all these channels on that transponder (VTV-4, MRTV, etc.). Some boxes show provider's name, some don't. You don't also need to worry about latitude/longitude, if you have no motor. You need to add this transponder as it is in your transponders menu, and look for a signal quality redings, while moving a dish just a hair to the east or west.
You need to do it S-L-O-W in order to notice the difference. When signal quality becomes sufficient, scan the transponder. If your receiver is not as user friendly, as grandpa's, borrow his for a while. Or bring yours to his place to scan for VTV-4, seems like his dish aimed better.

After adjusting the dish for a strong signal, I finally got my satellite receiver to detect the 11966 signals and thus found the VTV4 channel as the result. Thank you all for your help.

Next attempt is to get the other Vietnamese channel.
