Toroidal Dishes
hi,
I would like to have some questions answer before I make my decision in purchasing from www.sadoun.com.
I have some questions for any pro or bobcat.
Ok, this is what I like to do if possible:
(#1.) I have parents, not computer or electronic oriented.
1. I want to purchase a system for them and setup for them to received both Vietnamese channels 97 and 101.
2. No motor control if possible because, refer to #1 above there. Is there a DISH + LNB that can be use for this purpose? Maybe (Toroidal Dishes)?
3. And what is great system for the applications Vietnam channels plus maybe Dish H**K that we are not allow to speak about, and future update of software, upgrades, usage, roll back firmware, so on.
There is a lots of option that Sadoun is selling. By answering these few question hopefully it will help in my decision. If you have any other suggestion please feel free to help me out.
Try to be precise or give links would be great. It helps me out in getting right stuff and models. FYI: already bought SF95KIT DSS Satellite Finder Installation KIT, last year.
Thank you, hoping to buy from you soon.
1.) Dish type and model =
2.) LNB type =
3.) System type and model =
4.) So..on.

For the Vietnamese channels you should get a 36" or larger dish with two LNBs; you need a DiSEqC switch for the two LNBs. Align the dish using LNB1 to IA5 and tighten it down. This will get you VTV4 from Vietnam. Feed LNB1 into the "A" port (#1) on the DiSEqC switch. Then connect LNB2 and hold it beside LNB1 (on the right side when facing the dish). Move it around slowly until you lock onto AMC4 (for VPTV channel); you must use tie wraps and silicone caulking to attach LNB2 to LNB1. LNB2 then feeds into the "B" port (#2) of the DiSEqC switch. Then configure your receiver accordingly (ie: IA5 on port 1 and AMC4 on port 2).

Hi Bobcat,
I am confused!!! Facing south, I thought the Lnb for T5 is to the East(left), and Lnb for Amc4 is to the West(right). Am I wrong?
I aimed at AMC4. I tried many times with the second Lnb, but I could not get the signal for T5. It took me only few minutes to switch from Amc4 to T5 or vice versa with only 1 Lnb. Please help.

Hi Anh Cuong:
Not sure about about Minnesota but in Toronto I mount the second LNB (for AMC 4) on the right side of the main LNB (when facing the dish head on). Its tricky to get a lock on the signal. You must aim the second LNB a little bit higher than the main LNB; and all dishes are a bit different. Most important thing is to have a dish big enough to catch both satellites; I use 39" dishes. With a smaller 33" its almost impossible. Also, connect the second LNB directly to the receiver -- don't wire it into the DiSEqC switch until later -- and make sure you choose an active transponder on AMC 4 - like the one VPTV is on. 12120 / VER / 30,000. http://www.lyngsat.com/amc4.html

I am in Minneapolis too (actually a SW suburb)
If you have the dish aimed right now at T5, the LNB for AMC4 goes to the left of the T5 LNB (if you are standing behind the dish). Due to reflection off the dish, they go opposite of the arc in the sky. So it would be to the east of the T5 LNB

I think it's funnier that he has to stand behind his dish, ie as ICE said, "standing behind the dish).Due to reflection off the dish" .

Icebirds don't fly well either. No AMC channel on an AMC bird and no G4 TV on a Galaxy bird!!!! Go Figure.

Bad DISEqc????
Hi Bobkat, Iceberg (I did not make mistake this time :-()
Without the DISEqc I have no problem getting VTV4(T5) and VTP(AMC4). The sinal was ~50 and Q was ~45. However, when I connected them (power off as advised by Sadoun)to Sadoun S-DS41C (VTV4 LNB1, VTV LNB2), the S/Q was very weak and now is 0.
This is my set up for my receiver (Satcruiser Plus, Winegard 76cm dish)
LNB STANDARD 10750
22khz off
DisEqC mode DISEQC1 for T5 and DISEQC2 for AMC4.
DisEqC 1.2 OFF
0/12v switch 12v(or 0v)
Was my set up wrong or I got a bad DISEqc (brand new).
Thank you for your help.

sounds like your signal and quality still a little low may still need to do some find tuning.leave 12 v switch off. make sure the lnb power is turned on.rest of the settings look fine.

Fot satcruiser plus receiver, ~50/45 sinal is the best. LNB power was on. 12v/0v must be on, otherwise therre was no signal.
Spent the whole day off and got nothing. HELP.

don't use the satcruiser so don't know much about it.with my fortec ultra it wont lock below 39 quality so thats why i assume your quality reading was low if it works without disqec switch and don't work with switch it probally bad switch.

Cuong:
Try using ports 3 and 4 rather than 1 and 2 - don't forget to configure your receiver for 3 and 4. Other than that you might have a bad switch. Rainman is right - you should have the 0/12 V setting off.
