best way to find Telstar 5?

I've installed 2 times successfully with Telstar 5. And each time it took several days to align the dish correctly and the process were very frustrating (Never had problem with Dish or Directv). It seems like Telstar 5 is very picky about the position, even a slightly move it gives no signal. I followed the instruction and found the azimuth, elavation angle here. Recently I purchased the Birdog, and downloaded both H&V Telstar 5 KU and it didn't seem to help at all, eventhough I peaked the signal. (Admins: I did many searches and read many posts here before I post this)

Also, the previous 2 installation, the signal is lower than 65.
What is the faster way to search for this satellite and recommend for best set up? any comments is appreciated.

I have a Winnepeg dish 30cm

the absolute best way to find a satellite like T5 is to nail everything perfectly.

50 percent of the hardest part is making sure the pole is AS LEVEL AS POSSIBLE. This will ensure that your dish will point according to your calculations and not be off.

Next.. make all the necessary calculations: azimuth, elevation, skew.

Next.. get a good compass and know how to use it to get an accurate reading!!

The closer you point your dish to your calculation.. the easier it will be to find the signal.

Let us know if you have more questions.

BY THE WAY... I think a 30 cm dish is a little too small for T5. What sizes were the previous dishes?

They are 30in as well. I'm not sure if I buy better LNBF would help the installation or bigger dish (tight budget, I overspent and my wife is ). I've been reading the posts someone suggested 36in or 40in dish.
