How do I change my receiver to get VTV4?

It depends on what brand and model of receiver you have. The procedure varies a lot. What equipment do you have?

If you have a Fortec Star DVB-786v3

Go to Install>>Channel Search
Scroll down to TP Data
Click OK on it.
Scroll to the right until you reach "USER DEFINED"
Scroll down and enter new TP information
Scroll down to STORE and click OK
Search the satellite again by clicking on START.

The new VTV4 channel will be added.


If you have a Fortec Star Lifetime ULTRA
Just do a SMART SCAN on IA5 and the new transponder / channel will be added to the list of channels.

I have a BEC DB-6600+ and can't get the dam thing to work. Does anybody have this receiver brand and can show me how to config this thing.

ya.. i got BEC 6600+ .. (pretty nice machine actually) :mozilla_laughing:

Go to Main Menu... then to Installation .. then to Transponder Setup...then go to Transponder .. when on that menu.. and go to the last one there (left or right).. when there.. the next transponder will be "New"

So enter those values there:
Frequency - 11966
Symbol Rate - 21991 (it's listed as 22000 at many places.. but i forgot .. on this machine or on other one.. - it didn't want to work with 22000.. but however worked with 21991)
Polarization - Hor (Horizontal)
Skew - leave it at 0
22 KHz - Off (more likely)

That's all - go below .and do Scan TP (can even do Scan 1 Satellite there).. but do Scan Tp maybe first..

That's all - that should work as charm.. if everything else is correct at your end.. if that does't work.. then you might have other issues.. such as Dish.. Dish size, quality of install, etc..

also.. on same screen .. on top there at the Right side..
I have those settings:

Type: Normal
LNB Type - Non-Univ.
LNB Freq 1: 5150
LNB Freq 1: 10750

I don't have any switches..
So all the rest choices below under "switch" .. i have "None" there..

Works fine for me..

Dear Admin,

I have 3 Fortec Star DVB-786v3 (3 different houses) but I did not get them to work.

After step 6 above, SIGNAL is only 70% and QUALITY is 0% so I go ahead
and click START to search for channel as Step 7. Then it REBOOT but It does not keep the "USER DEFINED" Tranponder 28 as Step 6. It goes back to the original Transponder 27 so I did a Master RESET and tried all the step above many times but It keeps going back to the original Transponder 27 (SIGNAL is 90% and QUALITY is 89%) and now I can't watch VTV4 anymore. Please help

Verify that your LNB is working on HORIZONTAL polarity; check some other HOR transponders. You might have a bad LNB or your dish is off alignment and receiving only VER transponders; I see this alot on service calls. Get rid of any splitters in line if there are any; a splitter will block one side of the polarity or the other. Also, wait a second or two for the signal to lock in before hitting START. The Fortec 786 is a strange beastie. I have only come across one in my travels and I found its menu layout very confusing to say the least.

Never heard of that receiver but all receivers have a FACTORY DEFAULT reset feature. Usually it is under SYSTEM SETTINGS or INSTALLATION. Play around in the MENU, you will find it.

Unless that is not what you mean by "reset"; are you trying to change to the new VTV4 channel? If you are, then enter 11,966, HOR, and 22,000 SR as you have done. SAVE those parameters and then SCAN TRANSPONDER. The new VTV4 channel will come in.
