SATHAWK Purchase

I recently bought a SATHAWK and I'm having problems getting it calibrated. I sure wish it came pre-calibrated from the sales floor. The software is ver. 5.0.8.AM America V4.A05 Is this the right software or should I hook it up to my PC and toy around with it? Any help would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks in advance...chris

I bought a SATHAWK and had it for less than one month and had nothing but trouble with it. I have since sent it back for a replacement and I sure hope this one works right. $500 is ALOT of money to spend on a meter that won't work right. Also it bothered me a bit that I didn't get any replies to my original post asking for help, has anyone else had problems with their SATHAWK? If so please post...

I've had the SATHAWK for over a month and have found it to be fairly easy to use......That is, After you calibrate it. (Even though it wasn't that difficult to do) I RV and use it to find 119W on my remote dish, which usually takes less than 30 seconds. I guess this calibration thing must be done locally as each area of the country (or world) has a different signal strength. I like it!

Sathawk

I pr-ordered the sathawk, and I really like the design of the meter and have no problem calibrating the meter. However, it does not find G4R or SatMex 5 for Direcway systems for me. I verified I had the signal with my laptop for both birds, but nothing "Found" with the Sathawk. It did find G11. I downloaded the new America 06 file and it only added DTV 72.5 and I checked again after the down load and still no signal found for those two birds. A very nice lady with Sadoun told me that the sathawk is not for use with Direcway and I explained I was told it was. After that I checked the site and it SAYS for Direcway. I would like a fix and to keep the meter, however I bought it for Direcway and other VSATS and it is useless to me If it doesn't find these Birds. Could Somebody advise us on a fix or offer an exchange?

Re: Sathawk

G4R and Satmex5 works perfectly on the birdog meter.

I have signalocpro aka sathawk and birdog.

sathawk works perfectly on dbs dishesbut some fta birds might be tough. tech support over uk is poor also the fixes that they give me are useless. good thing i have another meter for back up.

Now you know why the price is LOWER.

I think I know why the birdog is alittle higher. Might be the leather case. lol

 That plus the fact you can get an optional cigarette lighter that plugs into the RJ45 port...

Seriously, Birdogs kick the sh*t out of the other meters IMHO.

I have two. Versions 2.01 US and 2.50 US. They both work great. The newer one (2.50) distinguishes between Nimiq 91 and Nimiq 82, which the older one can't.
