VTV4 is acting weird again
For those watching VTV4, if you are experiencing the problem below, do not tune your dish. Nothing wrong with it:
1. Fortec Lifetime, 786v3: both audio/video are OK
2. SatnSound (made by Samsung): audio and video are out of sync, distored audio.
3. Satcruiser 101/201: picture is OK but no sound.
4. Bec 2000: picture is break-up badly.
Again, do not re-tune your dish. Feel free to add your results here. Don't forget to include the brand you are using.

Its been weird for months
Hi Mikey:
Yeah, VTV4 has been acting weird for months - audio wise. I noticed it long ago but thought they would eventually fix it but they haven't...
Here are the latest receivers I tried it on:
Ariza TP1000: video OK / audio very distorted
EmTech EM100: video out of sync / audio a bit distorted
Coship CDVB5110: video OK / audio very distorted
Pansat 2500A: video OK / audio a bit distorted
More results as I find them.
Thanks for posting this, Michael. I thought maybe it was just me .... :?

The VTV4 is back to normal tonight. Look like they already fixed the problem.

Hi:
Welcome to our forum !! 8)
You need a 30" minimum dish with linear polarity LNB pointed at Telstar 5 (now called IA5). Make sure your receiver has the transponder data loaded for T5.

This is starting to bug me...
VTV4 is down again (Thursday Sept.16).... No video or audio. Tried several different receivers and none of them get VTV4. I wonder what the heck is going on. Hey Mikey, you know some of those dudes at VTV4; you should email them and get the inside dirt on this situation...

VTV4 doesn't work after rescaning
Hi guys,
I got the old Fortec 786 works fine. Everything was good with VTV4 today. Then, some new custies call in, complaining about nothing on VTV4. All signal strength are very good here (89%). So, I show them how to scan. And I even reset and rescan my own Fortec. Interestingly, after rescanning, I got the same problem as custies. Signals show about 89%, but screen is blank dark. They shows the message saying "bad signal". But, how can it's bad if it's is 89%.
So, I get my Satcruiser 101 in action. I plug it in....The Satcruiser 101 works fine with VTV (both video and sound). So, I suspect something is wrong with Fortec ?.....
Not sure if your guys want to try out rescaning for yourself, but that's weird... Any idea how to fix this, guys?..... Thanks a lot for your help....

I recall this problem before with VTV4 and missing audio. Some receivers picked it up, others didn't. Apparently the uplinker changed the APID settings for VTV4. So when you rescanned some receivers it lost audio -- interesting thing was that other brands of receivers worked fine. We all went nuts trying to figure out why this was happening. Eventually the uplinker changed the settings back to their original configurations and all was good again.
In the meantime, if your receivers allows it, try setting the transponder configuration to "AUTO PID" - some receivers have this feature; EmTech does. I'm not sure about Fortec. Then do a rescan of the 12,177 MHz transponder.
Keep us posted on your results because this is very interesting.

Still in dark age
Hi kat,
Unluckily, Fortec has no option like that.... So, basically, we are still in dark.... I'm thinking of taking back systems and refund money to them if this dark age lasts too long.... Else, they think I'm cheating them to take $....
Thanks a lot for your help, man..... Hope thing go fine with u....

No changes in Pids/PCR at all. VTV4 is back to normal now. All my receivers get VTV4 fine (Fortec, BEC, Samsung, SatnSound, Scientific Atlanta, Satcruiser)

Yeah Mikey, but here's the weird thing...
Yesterday I scanned an Ariza TP1000 receiver during the day and it could not find the VTV4 channel, or even the Burma channel they show during the daytime. Then, at 9:00 PM when VTV4 started, the receiver still did not have VTV4. I had to manually set the VPID and APID to get VTV4. So there is something missing in the packet identifier preventing the receiver from picking up the channel VTV4 is using.
So I guess the rule is never do a channel search when VTV4 (or the uplinker) is playing around with the settings.

VTV4 was having problem last night, picture was pretty bad and sound was way low. This is a problem of VTV4, nothing wrong with your receiver. No need to make any hardware adjustment. I already emailed VTV4. We'll see if the problem is fixed tonight.
