birddog + nimiq1 = dont work
like the topic says. birddog + nimiq1 = dont work. but nimiq 2 82 works fine.
been using nimiq 2 to find 91 for the pass months and nimiq2 now just 2 days ago.. i cannot find 91 but 82
i am using birddog 2.20 firmware.
does the new 2.50 works for ppl that has it searching for both nimiqs?

We've talked about this in previous topics. It all depends on the version of software that you download. One of my Birdogs (the older of the two) locks onto Nimiq 91 and Nimiq 82 under the "Nimiq 1" position but it can't find either one under the "Nimiq 2" position. The other meter is the reverse. It works so that's the main thing. If a guy can't tell which Nimiq he is on by eyeballing the east-west position of the dish then he should look for another line of work.

I know, they never do...
I just downloaded a new list for my second Birdog; going to test it out now and make sure it can find at least one of the Nimiqs -- you've got me worried now. If my version works I will email it to you. BRB.

K; its working OK; finds Nimiq91 under "Nimiq 1" only, not under "Nimiq 2". I could not test Nimiq82 since I don't have the dual dish. I'm going to email this file to you -- should work.

I'm going back to my old analog channermaster for tomorrow's installation. This thing is a pain in the butt. I wonder if signaloc's is the same thing.

That's nuts. How can it work on my meter but not on yours? Especially if DirecTv and DishNetwork lock in. I'm sure the meter is just fine. You are using the file I sent you?
Must be something wrong with your ExpressVu dish. Check it with your CM.

Nimiq1 works for me on Birdog
I just got my birdog. Let it charge 24 hr. Went to this address
http://www.birdog.tv/default.asp?CallType=CONFIGURE
made a list of the sats I wanted, programed the Birdog got Nimiq1 right off the bat. Haven't tried the other birds yet though.
What a nice piece of equiptment vs. the $8 meter, $60 meter, using ird to get signal etc hopefully no more up and down the roof to check or hollering " you got it signal NOW" "how bout NOW"? lol.

Yes, I'm totally hooked on my Birdog. That's why I have two -- one as a spare. Once you get this thing you will never give it up.
kat
PS: Just out of curiosity -- what firmware version do you have? It should display briefly right after you turn the meter on. It will say something like "2.50aUS".

not shure if this helps or is valid for your problem but i have come across nim. 91 and dish 61.5 will give a false found. ex. i was aiming 91. scrolled thru on my bird dog and 61.5 chirped like bird. so i reversed the setup aimed at 61.5 and nim.91 gave me a found signal as well.
Its always good to know your elevation. and old fasion compas will save all the trips up and down that dam ladder.

Yeah, I've had this happen too. I suspect that the Birdog will sometimes lock onto any EchoStar satellite, DishNet or ExpressVu. It should be able to differentiate but it doesn't always seem to.

I have a birdog, firmware 2.50us. I saw the post about re-downloading the sat file -- and did so.
However 91w still was "not found" by the meter. 82w was found, and I was able to somewhat peak 91w by just using the signal strength section of the birdog.
I sent an email to the birdog tech support folks. we'll see if they respond.

Don't hold your breath...
I have the same firmware version you do (2.50us) and I redid my sat list; now my Birdog (newer one) finds both Nimiqs on their respective settings. Maybe you could try configuring and downloading another sat list. We both have the same firmware so theoretically your Birdog should work properly if mine does.

hmm... because after I saw your post, I went and re-did my satellite list ... (okay, same list as before, but still a new version).
It finds 82 just fine - but didn't find 91 -- but did show me a signal strength of 189 (linear mode).
Pity that there's no "debug" mode on the birdog so we could just see the satellite identifier information.
