VPTV or VTVr
As you may know there are two Vietnamese channels available free to air in the USA. VTV4 (Government channel) on Telstar 5 and VPTV (Veit American Channel) on AMC4. Plus a coupld of VPTV radio channels on AMC4 as well.

It all depends on what part of Vietnam our customers are from. Since VTV4 is from Hanoi the programming is heavily spiced with government (Communist) propaganda. Vietnamese from the south hate this. VPTV on the other hand is somewhat anti-communist in nature and appeals more to folks from south Vietnam. As a rule of thumb we find most of our customers want both. As for myself, I don't watch either one of them...

I find most customers prefer VTV4 and most don't even know about VPTV until we mention it to them. The problem is that if you need to watch both you will have to have a motorized dish. Most people opt to buy a stationary dish.

No you don't... I strap two LNBs onto a 90 cm dish every day. The two birds are only 4 degrees apart. It takes a little practice, well OK - a lot... but it is "doable" (Mikey's fav word - where is that guy anyway???)

That is excellent. Could you post a picture, pls. If we are going to recommend it to our customers, we want to make sure it is easy setup and they can do it.
I have tried it before on an 80cm dish and couldn't get it.

There are some threads in this forum about doing this. I don't have any pictures of my installs as I don't carry a camera around on site. But I think some of the threads contain photos.

No, an 80 cm is too small.

Hi Bobcat, Sadoun!
It works on my Winegard 76cm. I live in the Midwest. The Eastern and Western States may need bigger dish. It is easier if we use the old big lnbfs. The new smaller ones are very difficult to attach them together.

Yes, it all depends on the LNB shape and size. I experimented with various LNB housings until I found a good match; yes, I've managed to pull in both satellites with a 76 cm Winegard too, but it IS hard, especially up here in Canada.

I saw at a satellite store here a "mini lnb" used for this purpose. You can get perfect signal from both satellites using 90cm dish. The store is promoting that dish with 2 lnb to get all church channels on IA5 and AMC4 at the same time. Because the lnb's are very thin, they install so close to each other on the lnb holder. I tried it, it works good.

Hi Pictureon, Bobkat (no mistake this time :-(()
The 2 mini single lnbs worked fine for me too. But I have just switched to 2 old big dual LNBFs today, because I did not like the "slave receiver". Got the signal but it is very weak. Wish that I bought the bigger dish 4 years ago.

There are LNBs which have two built-in LNBs, and that allow us to catch VTV4 and VPTV. However, they cost a little more than two single LNBs. I combined two of them together and I got both birds with 31" dish. I live in SouthTX, so the signal is a little stronger than any other place.

I noticed that 11966 TP on G25/97w is one of the weakest TPs on this sate... On my Fortec Classic NA and 80cm dish from the NW area, I get at best 28-33 signal strength/quality which makes channels on this TP so jaggy and almost unwatchable... can someone else confirm this?

this was discussed in another post i think anything under 90cm on this TP has trouble I get it just fine with my 90cm and also with the 8.5' dish with no problems maybe when the new sat goes up the signal will get stronger.
