Fortec Star life ultra. Btw, is IA 5/Ku the same as Telstar 5? and is it true that you can only watch vietnamese channel at a certain time of the day?

1. IA5 is Telstar5.
2. VTV4 is available from 6pm - 2am Pacific Time.
3. Check out the link below for the dish elevation/azimuth from your location:
http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Installati...Calculator.htm
Make sure you set the skew correctly and use an active transponder when tuning the dish at T5. You can use the VTV4 freq (freq: 12177, Pol: V, Sr 23000).
4. Make sure you set the LOF correctly. Standar lnbf : 10750, Universal lnbf : low 9750 high 10600.

All your settings look good. Its just a matter of slowly adjusting the dish until you get a "quality" reading; it takes time and patience. Have a read at some of the good threads in this forum. Check out the "Classic Threads" forum and also run a search on "Telstar5". You will find lots of hints.

oh yes i have read up on it and did vtv search also.

1.) this thread right here tell me how to set it up.

http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Products/F...stallation.htm

so far i mess up "LNB type" from default. according to thread it said if i have fortec lnbf i should NOT change it from defualt. forgot what it was:
well i just put it at "UNIVERSAL 1" = 9750/10600

2. ) my "TP" i cant get that 27.000 it only has 23.000
so it only has "12177 V 23.000"

went into edit screen and edit "TP"
and make "12177 V 27.000"

according to this thread:
http://www.lyngsat.com/ia5.html

thanks for helping i have to climb up there again and try what u said. patient. right now it level = 76 and quality = 0.

this thread said i must be doing somthing right cause i am getting blue...only green would pop in.....

I'm not sure what you're editting but change the SR back to 23,000 and not 27,000. Or try resetting the receiver back to factory default and start again. Your LNB is universal so make sure the L.O. frequency is set to 10,600 MHz.

in "antenna setup">"TP">
using right arrow all my options are as follows:
11749V7.232
11766V5.171
SO ON...
UP TO...
12152H20.000
12177V23.000 < MAX THEN BACK TO TOP AGAIN.

ACCORDING TO THIS WEBSITE:
http://www.lyngsat.com/ia5.html

IT SHOULD BE: "12177 V tp 27"
SCROLL DOWN. IT ON LAST PAGE LEFT HAND SIDE.

SO I WENT INTO "MENUE">"INSTALLATION">"EDIT TP/SATELLITE">"T5/KU">"EDIT TP">"NEW">"DOWN FREQUENCY"=12177>"SYMBOL RATE"=27.000 MSP>"POLARITY"=VERTICAL.

WENT BACK INTO "ANTENNA SETUP">"T5/KU">"TP" ..... NOW I HAVE 12177V27.000 ALSO. 12177V223.000 IS STILL THERE.

AM I WRONG TO DO THAT? THEN SPECIFICATION ON

You are confuse transponder # and Symbol Rate. Transponder# on a satellite is not related to the transponders # on your receiver.
Correct info for VTV4:
Freq: 12177, Polarity V, Symbol Rate 23000. You can ignore the Video/Audio Pids and PCR. Once you get lock on T5, the receicer will find the Pids/PCR. You might spend more time to read before messing arround with the settings.

ok thanks,

took receiver over to friend house to use his dish.
works great. it has to be on universal 2 though.
and i notice his lnbf is push in flush against the bracket.
not like the way sadoun show it, it show it push out away from the dish. his is opposite.

well i take it back and try it both ways and see.
waiting for sun to go down and 7pm-2am is when vtv4 come on to scan it.

thanks for all the helpsss. you guys are great.

You don't have to wait for VTV4 to come on. The receiver will scan and find the signal any time of day. During the daytime that same channel shows CARTV and then Mayamar, or something like that. Hot babes and even hotter food !!

Depend on what kind of dish you use not all 30 inches dish LNB are the same, if you using Samsonic Dish - i am sure that they use LNB type = 10750

True, but bobzenmail has said that he has a Fortec dish and Fortec LNB so for him its universal -- 10,600 MHz. Other dishes and their LNBs are standard in which case it would be 10,750 MHz like you say.

So, you conclude that Universal 1 cannot work for VTV4?

I'm having same your problem, and would like to learn from you.
Do ypu think I should change to Universal 2 LNB?
