Signal meter recommendations.

Hi, I just purchased a CM 1009IFD and one of the major complaints that I have with it is that I can't select the transponder for any satellite that I'm trying align. Is there a satellite meter out in the market with allmost the same specs and features as the 1009IFD that allows you to adjust the transponders? My main focus is the free to off air receivers and the direct tv 3-sat dish alignments. I just aligned a system for the AMC4 satellite and the fine tune alignment needs to be done with the transponder set to 3. I had to see it on a small tv screen and the satellite receiver next to me to adjust it correctly. Any sugestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

I don't know of any meter that lets you select a particular transponder. Then again you shouldn't need to; every satellite sends out a Digital Data Stream Identifier beacon and the meter looks for this beacon -- it doesn't matter what transponder the beacon is being sent from -- the meter will find it. Having said that, there are some birds that are active on only vertical or only horizontal transponders. The Birdog is selectable for VER and HOR polarities. You would need to know whether these satellites are VER or HOR and set the Birdog accordingly or it won't find it -- an example of such a satellite is G3R. Just check with www.lyngsat.com to get the relevant data before aligning your dish.
