SF-95 signal jumps from 0 to 10, nothing in between.

I just got my SF-95 and connected it inline to position my dish. When I tried to adjust the gain to get a reading of 5 like the instructions say it goes from 0 or maybe 1/2 to pegged out at 10. No matter how small of an adjustment I made it was either all (10) or nothing (0). I changed the position of the dish and it still was either 0 or 10 depending on how I adjusted the gain.

This behavior is not very helpful because I have to hit the satillite dead on to get the 10 reading. What's going on here?

Adjust sensitivity

I have an old Sat Finder and I am not sure if they are the same now but there used to be a fine adjustment underneath the label on the back. Make a very small adjustment 20º to 30º and try again . Make sure you mark your starting point so that you can go back to "as delivered". That Sat Finder is a simple device more suited to dealling with strong D*V and D* signals and is a bit more difficult to use on linear type FTA sats.
