I have the same question. For my situation it would be the DirecTV 101 satellite. I have some transponders with great 90% plus strength and others are now reporting nothing? Reception from the music channels is now hit and miss? I had heard before that you had to have at least 70% from all transponders but I am not sure that is achievable? I was also wondering about the adjustment to the LNB based on my location (Phoenix) that I see on your site? This is the first time I have heard anyone suggest rotating it? (Maybe I've been reading all the wrong info!) Is this more effective in only certain regions or for everyone?

Rotation (SKEW) is important to get the polarization aligned correctly. With DISH and DIRECTTV dishes you do that by turning the whole reflector. On bigger dishes like the one on our website, you rotate the LNBF since the LNBF in this case is secured to the dish by a collar.

i use the transponder number 7 whenever fine tuning my dish.

it picks up the strongest signal from the satellite.

also 15 is just as good. hope this helps.

missing transponders possable voltage problem

direct tv.... each transponder is resposable for certain channels, say if transponder 30 is missing you won't have any of the channels that are related to it.

even or odd transponders are related to voltage sent to the LNB, 18/10 volts. measure voltage, check output at reciever<most swing from 10 to 18 volts while hunting signal>.

check for loose or corroded fittings, kinked or bad cable, possably a bad LNB,or dish thats damaged<did a basketball hit it, or limb fall on it> or out of alignment.

bad reciever can cause missing channels.

SQof 70 is threshold DTV sets for a clear day most recievers will have some in the mid to high 90s and depending on the model reciever some as low as mid 70s. There will always be a spread .

multipul recievers some will always have a higher SQ that others in the system.
