Intelsat Americas 5 (Telstar 5) and Birdog

Does the Birdog "find" Intelsat Americas 5 (used to be Telstar 5) 97 degrees W? I downloaded both the KV and KH Telstar 5 lines into my Birdog but never get a "found." I suspect things have changed since Intelsat took the bird over. How would I find out if Birdog is going to update the line for this satellite? Thanks.

Nothing has changed. The Birdog still finds T5 no problem. Mine identified it a few days ago and I have a really old software version so I'm sure things are still the same.

It's not working - I wonder if I'm doing something stupid.

I'm new to the birdog. I have a new meter with the v. 2.5 firmware. I have put this meter on three different dishes that I know are on T5 and have good solid signals, but can't get a "found" indication... I have a strong "S" bar, but unit just stays in "searching" mode. These dishes use a simple single polarity LNB. Anyone got any ideas what stupid thing I've overlooked? I had the meter on a steerable dish late this afternoon, and I couldn't get a "found" on Telstar 5 97 west, Galaxcy 3C 95 west, or Directway 99 west by panning the arc.

Remember that the Birdog will not work on universal LNBs; only standard LNBs. This could be your problem.

Also, if you the dish you have uses C-band LNB only for Telstar 5, you will need the C-band patch downloaded into the BIRDOG. Send an email to support@sadoun.com to get the C-band patch.
