It can be rough and I do get discouraged with some posters who after repeatedly being asked for info they only post "junk equipment". I am not that far removed to remember posting lnb instead of lnbf and the reverse. Sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming. After all most all lnbf's look alike who would think there are differences? Think about just starting out. I remember falling for the "you can use an old DN or
DTV dish for FTA" line. Was collecting up these little dishes, mounting, hooking up only to become very discouraged when I found 121 but could not get 123. Not knowing the differences I assumed it was me and founght for quite some time.
Calling the local sat shop was of no use. They knew or said they knew nothing about what I was trying to do. When I found this forum the people here were patient and for the beginning I refused to believe what they had to say. "I know it will work I have 121. Only 2 degrees to the west and I will have the sat I want" I bought
Platinum receivers because I knew I could simlpy put a DN card in the slot and sub to DN thus having the best of both worlds (sub and FTA on 1 receiver).
Somebody has probably filled his head with false info and he really needs to slow down and start over. While he may be able to use the dish he has modifications are best left to those that have some time in and not a beginner. He would probably be best served to buy a stationary dish and UNI lnbf from
Sadoun then proceed forward.
