Birdog Satellite Finder

http://sadoun.com/Sat/Products/Acces...rdog-meter.htm

The Birdog is location sensitive. It will only pick up satellites within the footprint of its programming. Consequently you may need a larger dish if on the outer limits of the satellite footprint.

If the meter will not search or lock or the picture quality is low:

Check that the lead is securely connected at both ends and is undamaged

If there are kinks or the outer braids are touching the inner dielectric - the meter may not operate correctly.

All installation engineers should be aware that incorrect positioning of the satellite dish might cause search and lock difficulties.

Occasionally, when aligning the dish after wall mounting, it may be possible to get a 'Found' reading but not a satisfactory 'Picture Quality' readout in either Horizontal, Vertical or both.

This indicates that the satellite dish has been incorrectly positioned and that its line of sight to the relevant satellite is obstructed by either a natural feature such as a tree or a man made object. The dish will need to be re-positioned to enable the correct fine-tuning to take place.

SAFETY

Do not open the unit or interfere with components, as this will invalidate the guarantee. It may also cause electric shock.

Do not immerse the unit in water.

Always use the protective cover.

Always use the supplied charging implements as using other similar types may cause damage or electric shock.

Aaron Schwartz is on a distinguished road
I have and Use a birdog everyday, it help out allot. I love it. I is expensive (about 400.00 to 500.00) but worth it if you install these often. It makes things go allot faster. You can upload the satellites you want it to find right into the meter, over and over again. I also use a Accutrac, but only for Dish and Directv.

As a side note this also indicates a slightly warped dish; I have found this on a few occasions where former customers have moved and taken the dish down themselves and called me to reinstall it at their new residence. If they were not careful in dismantling the dish or have dropped it   the dish becomes "warped" as I call it - you can spot this by holding the dish upright at your feet and looking straight down at it. A warped dish, I have found, will cause good quality (high S/N ratio on the Birdog) on one polarity but lousy on the other -- no amount of tweaking will rectify this. Drives me nutso !!! :?
