Vonage with Fax

This is my experience with Vonage. After reading about it here I decided to go with them for a second line to be used as a fax. They sent me the adapter and it was easy to install. I got a dial tone, tried the phone and it worked OK. Next day I picked up the phone and there was no dial tone so I called. I had to reboot my modem, router, and vonage adapter to get the dial tone back. Then I noticed that faxes do not go through so I called again. After going from tech to another, higher and higher, the problem was fixed, it was some upgrade that had to be done to the adapter to receive data. Next day in the morning again no dial tone called rebooted and dial tone back again but no faxes. Called again and the guy suggested getting another line for the fax only. When I refused that he transferred me to advanced tech to resolve the problem. The problem fixed again but for few hours then back to no dial tone. Finally they decided to send me a different adapter. They would charge me $49 and give me credit of $39.00 when they receive the old one so I refused to pay anything. At this point the did not send anything. I still have the same problem and if I do not agree to the charges, they will not do anything. If I cancel now they would charge me $49 for the adapter I received for free. I've been with them for 36 days and I called them 23 times and spent 1-2 hours on the phone each time. Another thing I noticed that they get you to configure your system to work even if you have to lose some features (call waiting or voice mail) or disable security features (router firewall).

Welcome to Vonage! I was with Vonage for 8 months and went through all kinds of crap with them. Finally so fed up I cancel my service with them and they billed my credit card $75 'cancel fee' a month later they billed my card again 16 cents. I can't tell you how much I hate this company.

As for my VOIP I changed to a local provider and have had trouble free service at a lower rate ever since.
