Installing Digicon S-type connector-RG6

Have Digicion S-type connectors(blue), Digicon LCCT-1 tool, Digicon RG6 2-blade stripper, and of course, RG6 cable(not quad). What is the proper procedure for prepping the cable to fit these connectors? After stripping should the braiding be folded back over the outside insulation before being inserted into the connector? Should the insulation around the "stinger" be flush with the bottom of the threaded end of the connector? Is the plastic insert in the center of the connector supposed to be removed? The connectors need to be persuaded a bit to get them on...is this normal? Tried a few connections, the first couple did not work...cable was pushed back when I tried to crimp. Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer any help!

I have never seen a Digicon connector, but if they are like Snap 'n Seal here is what I do:

After stripping, fold the braid back so that no little strands are touching the center conductor. Then push the connector (leave the little plastic piece there -- it will get compressed by the tool) onto the cable so that the dielectric just touches the bottom of the connector; yes, its hard to push the connector all the way - some cable is tougher than others. Then compress the connector and trim the center conductor to be 1/8 " past the connector.

I believe the Digicon is similar to the Snap n Seal. When I use the stripper I have only 1/4" of the "stinger" exposed and 1/4" of the braid exposed(inner cut down 1/4", outside cut down 1/2"). When I leave the plastic insert in the connector, it seems to push the cable out rather than being compressed itself. Should the "stinger" pierce through this plastic insert, because it is not open at the end? On the Snap n Seal does the plastic insert remain or does it fall out? I was only able to get good "crimps" by removing this piece prior to compressing the connector.

Hmmm... can you point me to a website that illustrates this connector? I know that with SNS the plastic insert is compressed down by the compression tool and seals itself snugly around the coax jacket, thus making it waterproof. If you remove the insert the connector will not grip the cable. When you mention the "stinger" are you referring to the center conductor? I have never heard that term before. I don't see how the center conductor could "pierce" the plastic insert -- it is a round plastic piece that you push the entire coax through as you insert it onto the connector. :?:

This is the address to a picture of the Digicon connector, There is also the PPC EX6XL listed which is supposed to be the same? Sorry, when I say "stinger" I do mean the center conductor(please excuse my "slang").

Well, that product looks quite a bit different than Snap 'n Seal. I can't help you with how to use those Digicons. I suggest you ask Sadoun since he sells them.

Im a ex cable guy of 8 years and I used digicon connectors when I did installs.The plastic insert needs to be removed, it protects the center conductor as you push the connector over the coax and protects you from stabbing your hand.(I used to use a 7/16 nut driver over the connecor to make it easier)There great connectors, but you will find different brands of coax are easier to connectorize than others.When looking inside the threaded part of the connector the dielectric should be flush with the bottom near the end of the threads and the conductor should just slightly protrude past the connector end 1/16 or so.good luck!
