Below Horizon for Hispasat 1C?

I recently bought a 90cm dish and PC dvb receiver and am trying to point to Hispasat 1C with my dish mounted on my chimney. I live in Kearny, NJ and was wondering if I'm wasting my time, even though, on www.lyngsat.com it shows that people even farther west in the U.S. aren't "below the horizon" of the satellite. I'd appreciate any help you can give, thanks.

From thr footprint here http://www.hispasat.es/FlotaSat/Mapa1c.jpg it seems that your area is well covered. Make sure your dish installation is perfect .

Got it fixed and working but can't get channels that I want.

I finally got my 90cm dish pointed and fixed on Hispasat 1C but the only reason I got the dish was to watch certain channels that for some reason I can't watch. Why is it that the ones that say Beam: Spain, on www.lyngsat.com, I can't watch? I'm new to this so don't laugh. It's a big upset but I guess there's plenty of other satellites I could find with some good channels on them. Could I get the HH motor mount on the current mount with it finding the rest of the satellites? I mean, right now it's pointed to Hispasat 1C, if I just put the h-h motor mount on there, will it recognize which satellite it's pointed to and find the rest by itself, or do I have to find them and program it? Thanks alot for replying!

Hello.

I will try to keep this as simple as possible:

If the beam says spain only spain can receive it. Think of the satellite as a spotlight - it will only reflect to a particular area - if they directed it to beam only spain - it will beam only spain.

If you want to watch channels on hispasat look on lyngsat - only frequencies that say - beam america can be received in the usa.

European beams are not available here

Hopefully this helps!
