Want to point at G10R,what should I do?

I already have a dish (30 inches) pointed at T5.Now T5 is no longer interesting for me so I'm wondering which solution should I go for?Should I repoint my dish at G10R,Should I keep my dish on T5 and buy a second for G10R,Should I buy a motor to surf all the satellites?I need your help.

Re: Want to point at G10R,what should I do?

If your receiver is capable to move the dish, then go for a h-h mount. Setting it up is a bit tricky but doable. Once it tracks the arc correctly, you can see any sats you want.

Since your reciver has only DiSEqC 1.0, then your choices are as follows:

1- Buy another Dish/LNBF and a 2 Way or 4 Way DiSEqC switch. With a 4Way switch you can add up to dishes.

2- Buy a DiSEqC 1.2 positioner, then add an HH motor

3- Buy a decent receiver with DiSEqC 1.2 (and USALS) and an HH motor.

If the choice is mine, I would pick number 3 and sell my old receiver on eBay.

I think I'll just do a repoint.G10R Shouldn't be as hard as T5 to point.

Re: repoint

Investing some $ for a h-h mount is worth. Beleive me, channels moving from one sat to the others all the time. If you budget is tight, you can go for the 2nd option, but it will be not as convenient to operate as the the 3rd one, meaning you have to use the positioner to move the dish, then select the channels on your receiver to watch.
If you go for the 3rd option, just click the channel, the receiver will move the dish for you.
Well the decision is up to you.

Yes; I agree with Michael -- get a new receiver with DiSEqC 1.2 and get a motor (HH preferably). There is such an amazing wealth of free channels out there. Putting up a motor at my store really opened up a whole new world of programming!!!

Hmmmm....

What brand of receiver is it? Most receivers I've seen only one month old have DiSEqC 1.2 built in; was it a new receiver?

:?:

Maybe like you said you could repoint the dish to G10R for now and see how that works for you.

When you get a chance to buy a new receiver, check our ebay specials. We run some great deals almost daily and you could snap a system very cheap.

Have fun

Re: receiver brand

I am glad to hear that you enjoy FTA stuff. When you are ready to get a new receiver and h-h mount, let us know. We'll walk you thru to set up the h-h mount. It's a bit tricky but doable. Once it tracks the arc correctly, you will get access to all viewable sats from your location. Adding a circular lnbf next to the main one, you will never miss any feeds. Some FTA feeds are circular as well (all music channels are FTA on DishNet/ExpressVu)
Do you like soccer? GolTV is currently FTA on one of DishNet sats.

I like sports in general,Since I have a dish pointed on T5 I'm watching more soccer than I had ever watched.Maybe I'll repoint my dish this week-end if I can find someone to help me.But maybe later I'll buy a new system and try to hit every satellite and channel I can get.

Re: FTA system

On G10R, NBN world usually shows some sport stuff at night. Also check out some Fox channels for football at weekend. Drive arround your neighbor to see if there are any Primestar dish, once you spot one , just knoch the door and offer to get it down for no charge...:-)

Re: prime star dish

If you see a Primestar or Starchoice dish pointing at T5 direction, don't knock the door. Probably the user is our buddy...:-)
I got 3 of my Primstar dishes for free using this approach. The owner actually gave a big "THank YOU". Its like I am doing a favor for them...:-)

Finally, I decided to keep my dish on T5.Instead,I'll change my digital cable subscription in order to watch more football. But I took the solutions in note and when I'll be ready to buy a new system,I'll know what to do.
