A quick question for anyone who uses a
Twinhan 1020a, and also uses the passthru to other receivers.
The question is, is the passthru live for you when you turn off whatever PC software you are using with the card?
I usually run this card with TSREADER, and I generally run the passthru to another receiver (DCII) on which I watch other programming. This morning, I noticed that if I shut down TSREADER while watching my other receiver, that the signal is killed to the other receiver fed by the passthru.
It's not illogical that it should do this, however I have been using this configuration for several years, and every saturday morning I watch programming on the receiver fed by the passthru, and I can't beleive that I've never had the Twinhan turned off before and noticed a signal loss.
So, I'm curious whether someone can confirm that this is indeed the way the Twinhan is supposed to work, or if something happened to my Twinhan (I'm suspicious because yesterday we had a particularly lengthy on/off/brownout power fluxuation that seemed to affect some of my other electronics.)
Thanks
EDIT: I was just doing further experimentation, and it seems like this is dependent on the software somehow. I just found out that if I switch sources in TSREADER before closing down TSREADER, that it leaves the TWINHAN ACTIVE, and the passthru works even though no software is running.
I guess this needs further experimentation.
EDIT 2: I did more experimentation, and found that if I ran the DVBAPPS program, then turned IT off, that the passthru remained active. Not only that, but when I'd subsequently run TSREADER, and turn it off again, the the passthru STILL remained active. In fact, right now, I can't get the darn thing to NOT be active. So this is becoming strange.
I started drafting a message to post over at the Satforums forum, where Rod, the author of TSREADER frequents, however as I was typing the message, I got a feeling of DEJAVU, and remembered that many months ago, I HAD run into something similar, however it wasn't a case of the passthru going dead, but a case of a birdie frequency popping up on the passthru, which was wiping out the program I watch on the receiver connected to the passthru. So, since I am watching the same channel I had been watching when this happend before, I'm starting to think that it may be that same problem again. However I can't check that out until I can get the problem to occur again. :-( Weird. First I was annoyed at the problem, now I'm annoyed because I can't reproduce the problem.
