I Just recently Bought a Fortec Package that included
Fortec Dish,KUL1 LNBF,Twinhan Pci Card,hh90 motor

i have everything installed and the dish is poistioned correcty and pointing to true south and the elevation and latitude are set correctly on the dish and motor. at least iam pretty positive it is.

anyways here is my problem when i use the Twinhan DTV Program on my pc the Signal Strength doesnt change it just stays around 45-65% with no quality and i have been unable to pick up any satellites. Somebody Please HELP ME!

ive been trying to get this working all day ive tried everything form switching pci slots and re-positioned the dish and its real hot on my roof and my compus melted

I suggest that you read the hundreds of similar messages that you will find in this and in the Fortec forum here. Everyone seems to ask the same question, but nobody gives enough info for anyone to tell what their problem is.
Personally, my experience is with big dish systems rather than with the little dishes, but I know that there can be several reasons for you not picking up anything. You should be looking for an active transponder on the sat nearest to due south of you. Many people just trust the transponder list in the software to be up to date. It usually isn't. Also, you need to make sure that you have selected the proper LNB type with the proper LO freq that corresponds to your LNB.
So, after looking through a few older threads, tell us what you have done, ie where you are, what satellite, and what transponder are you trying to lock? What angles have you set up on your dish? Do you have a hand held sat finder, or is your computer near enough to the dish to see the effects of your changes as you make them? Have you looked at Lyngsat to insure that the transponder you are looking for is actually transmitting?
Aligning a dish can be quite difficult if you have to climb and check your signal after each small change you make. I think that if I was going to attempt that, without a meter, that I'd get the dish working on the ground, then take it up to the roof while having it tuned to a channel so you can hear the audio pop in when you get it aimed right. It will save you a lot of trips up and down the roof. Also, as I've suggested in other threads, some people have found that the Thmover program found at the DVBAPPS web page is easier to use while looking for a signal.
There are some other techniques that could help you find satellites if you have some other hardware available, such as an analog sat receiver and a shortwave radio, but I'm guessing that that won't help here.
Anyway, this should be a start.

re:

First you need a sf-95 signal finder. or any brand of finder. Or you will be up there for a year. "like me". well.. more like two or three.

You need the meter to make sure you're hitting something.

Then you need to understand the software.
1. lnb set up choce's: standard
universal
custom
pick one according to your lnb you are using
then put in frequencies in lnb 1 and lnb 2 {if you pick custom}. Then hit apply then ok. then close program. then start "twinhan program" over again.

Okay ive been reading the fourms and stuff and found some people with the same problems but like wejones said they dont give enough info or how to solve the problem, so heres all the goodies

my latitude is 42.709 ,motor latitude is also this
longitude is -83.412
my dish angel is 38.4
and using my hh90 motor when set to zero is pointing at about 187 degrees so its pointing to my true south.

my LNBF is the (copied+pasted) by the title iam guessing its Linear
Sadoun KUL1

SINGLE DIGITAL STANDARD Linear KU 0.4 dB LNBF

My advanced Signal Meter:
I Use RealVNC(remote Desktop) and connect to the computer with the PCI card Through my home wireless network using my laptop. This lets me see the Signal and control my motorized dish.Pretty Neat Huh

Ive also tried two diffrent drivers with the TwinHan PCI card, The drivers i got with the Twinhan CD made my signal strengh stay around 40-60% no matter which way i pointed the dish and still no channels, and the other driver i found just made the Signal stay at zero and didnt move at all not even 1% and still no channels.

But Thanks Guys for you help so far. iam going to try the things you suggested and if they work then i will repost how i did it.

re

i agree there no good answers here or anywhere for you if twinhan software is used. you can search
treads till you are blue.and never
find anything.

best twinhan version to start with is 4.232 disk version works ok also.
what you need to see is green in the signal meter. i'll show you how i got it. if you get at least 40% quality. it is enough. more is always better.

hopefully you have already done 1. in my last post. now 2.

2.(make sure your motor is correctly set at your latitude. ) pick a satellite in the satellite list say ia5 (T5) for setup one. select usal for
motor control. in lnb one select transponder 21 hit apply. motor should move to that position.if not hit move button or goto...whatever.

if you don't see green move pole, motor, dish all together east and west slowly. if you don't get any thing. play with dish up or down in tiny increments. then move complete setup again east and west.

instructions work for all the good sats. it is even easier if you use a circular lnb first towards the other sats. then switch to ku lnb. Unversal
may be better than standard. i don't know

Good idea, re laptop. I've been doing the same thing with another similar VNC program, although I can't control my dish with it, since it's a big 10' dish. But it makes running the Twinhan card remotely easy.
Looks like your angles are OK, provided that you have the motor angle close to your latitude. Looks like your LNB is a standard, so make sure you have a 10750 LO freq set in the software.
You didn't say, but it looks also, like AMC9 is probably the sat you're looking for, and if you look at Lyngsat, http://www.lyngsat.com/amc9.html you will see that it is mainly network feeds, particularly if you are looking at one of the lower transponders. Those network feeds are not always there, ie they turn them on and off. For tuning purposes, I'd recommend looking at one of the HughesNet transponders shown at Lyngsat. You won't get any video off those transponders, but you should be able to lock the signal for tuning purposes.
And again, I'd recommend you pick up the THmover program from the DVBAPPS site. If you continue to use the Twinhan program, I seem to remember some versions of that software where it was important to hit Apply to get the signal meter going, and sometimes you had to change transponders and back to get it going again if it stopped. So if you don't see it changing try the apply button.
Also, depending on what version software, it may not have the proper transponders for that sat. Make sure they match in Freq/SR to what is shown in Lyngsat.
