Twinhan 1020A

I am trying to install a twinhan 1020A card into my computer and I cannot seem to get anything to work. I have a P4 3.0GHz CPU and a GeForce 5700Le graphics card. i am using a Dish 500 satellite dish with twinpro LBN. What it is doing is this: I inserted the card and the hardware wizard recognizes the card, but when I tried to load the software it would not recognize the card. My ddevice manager shows Multimedia Controller and Multimedia Video Controller both do not have drivers installed. Some other forums have said this is a common driver issue. Is that true, and if so where can I get the correct drivers? I have tried the Twinhan site and have not had any luck. Any suggestions or help that anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

TwinhanDTV 2.608 Build 01-02a is the software I am using and it seems to install ok. Try the card in another slot on the motherboard. The Twinhan software install will do everything, if the hardware wizard comes up, kill it and let it do the install itself. In device manager, in my setup, the twinhan shows up under "sound, video, and game controllers" as dtv video controller and dtv audio controller.
You won't see much free to air with a Dish 500, pretty limiting, you need a much bigger dish.

I tried loading the card into a different slot and it didn't give me any different results. On my device manager it is coming up under "other devices". When I tried to load the software it started to load and then it said that it could not recognize the hardware. When I tried to load drivers for the hardware it says the software cannot be found. Is the 1020A just a faulty card or am I just doing something wrong. I previously had a t.v. tuner card in the computer, but it has been removed. One of the steps said something about making sure any othe tuner card was removed "and drivers also". Is there a driver that I need to remove in order to get the twinhan to work. I can fumble my way through some computer problems, but I'm not real knowledgable on the technical support. Can anyone help me try and figure this out or do I need to see about a different card?

I don't know what the problem might be. I have heard about a conflict between the Twinhan and one specific tuner card, but if you've taken that out, there shouldn't be a problem, however it may be that Windows grabbed the wrong driver if the old tuner driver is still on the hard disk somewhere. Have you tried to uninstall the driver for it in the device manager, and then when it comes up found again make sure to aim Windows to the directory where you have unzipped the latest Twinhan driver file? There should be some CAB files and the DTVaudio.sys and DTVvideo.sys files in that directory when you unzip the file, and Windows should be able to install it properly if aimed at that directory. If it still doesn't find the hardware, then I don't know... you might try installing it in another computer to make sure that the card works. My card shows up both as an audio/video device and as a network card.

I went back through my device manager and found that it was showing up as a network adapter. I uninstalled it form there as well as uninstalling it as an "other" device and reloaded it. I have gotten it to load and i finally have everything loaded. I was told to get a "dish 500" to get me up and running, but I have been unable to get any signals. What dish would anyone recommend for me to actually be able to recieve anything? I'm new to the whole satellite thing. I guess I should have done more research before just trying to jump in. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions that anyone has for me and thanks to those who have given me things to check out previously.

Glad you got things running, its kind of a steep learning curve at first but not too bad once things are going and its also a lot of fun
As for what type of dish it depends on what you want to receive. That Dish 500 will get you Goltv, Current Tv, a whole lot of advice on how to use your dishnetwork remote and some audio channels, oh, and if you point it at the nimiq birds there are a few info channels there, so its pretty limiting. To be able to explore all the satellites that you can see from your area, you really need a motor and at least a 30" dish, a 36 or 39 is even better. You can check out Lyngsat to see what is up there.
