Cant find the channels I want/Signal Locked

OK I GOT IT!! I mounted on the side of the house, and got a 83 signal, 100 quality. BUT, I cannot get the channels I want on Galaxy10R like Pink, MKTV, and RTS! When I am at the channel search it is on galaxy10r and the transponder is on TP7 which is 11920, but for some reason sometimes it changes when I do a re-search. Anyway, when I do the search it picks up around 10 unamed channels and 3 channels which were named MACTV, HWAZAN, and DAI AI TV and two Polish Radio channels. I don't understand this because they work and the unameds have a "BAD SIGNAL" , but the ones that work get about 78 percent signal and it is bad quality, blocky, and the picture is not stable but blinks. The weird part is though that these are NOT ON Galaxy10R but on SATMEX5 !! I don't understand this. HElp.!

Well; the channels you are getting are definitely on SatMex 5 on the following coordinates:

freq = 12,080
polarity = HOR
SR = 25,635
FEC = 3/4

SatMex5 is 6 degrees east of G10R, the one you want.

So just move the dish a bit to your right (when you are behind the dish) and around 2 degrees down in elevation.

Set your transponder data for Galaxy 10 R:

freq = 11,920
polarity = VER
SR = 28,066
FEC = 3/4 (or auto)

I see. But I don't understand though. When I align my dish, I go to the channel search screen (I have 786-v3) and set it to G10R and the transponder to TP7 (which happens to be preset and it is on 11920) Then I align the best possible way and I get 83 signal and 100 quality. Then When I do that I hit search (it is on NIT FTA) then what it does is searches, finds AND NAMES the three chinese channels (MACTV,etc) and also two Polish Radio. The rest of the stuff it finds is just "unamed." Ok so it is done searching, and what happens is ALL the "unamed" channels have black screen and 82 percent signal, and also says "bad signal." Also when I goto Info it doesnt say 11920 TP but something close. And no VID or PID. On the other hand, I go to the channels it picked up and the signal is lower there (77) with a blocky picture that is not stable and keeps on going from black to picture every 8 seconds. And that is that. It is wierd. Also SATmex elevation is 26 not 22 like I have it set, which is what G10R is supposed to be. This is very wierd, I really appreciate the help.

Bobkat gave you the answer to your questions.

I might add that some satellites may have similar transponder frequencies and S/R (or close) and when you see a green signal and quality you might think that you are on the right satellite when you are not.

What I recommend is that once you get a signal and quality on one transponder, try to change to another transponder and see if you still get a green signal and quality as well. If not, then there is a chance you are indeed on the wrong satellite.

Good luck...

Sadoun, I think you are right on the money. There is a transponder on G10R which is 12080 and a SR of 28066. The same as one on SatMex5 but with an SR of 25635. BUT, what bothers me is when I was monitoring the 11920 G10R transponder signal (the one I am trying to get) The best I did was 83 signal and 100 quality, but this, leads me to believe is a false reading. Other positions I just had signal around 70 but 0 quality. So are you guys suggesting that I search more meticulously for G10R?

Check out this link ---> http://www.lyngsat.com/g10r.shtml

It gives you all the transponder data for currently active transponders. Use the yellow ones called "DVB".

What I do is manually set up the transponders (usually under "Edit Transponder" on most brands of receiver) for all the active transponders on the satellite I'm looking for - remember that transponder data changes constantly and the receiver manuafacturers cannot possibly program that data into their units to be "right up to the minute" - so a receiver will leave the factory downloaded with current data but by the time the unit is sold and installed, the transponder data may have changed. That is why I always search out the current data on www.lyngsat.com and then manually enter that data and then search for the satellite.

Like Sadoun says -- sometimes two satellites have similar transponder data. Its easy to lock onto the wrong satellite. So always check another one or two transponders you know are active to make sure you have locked onto the right satellite.

I GOT IT!! YES!! You guys were right, just a little more searching and then I saw most of the G10R transponders had a good signal. This is awesome, I love FTA!! For some reason though, I am only able to receieve Tarbs World TV transponders and not the others on it, they have a 75 signal and no quality. Hmm..

You should be able to get lots more than TARBS; especially on transponder 11 at 11,920 MHz. There are 5 Italian FTA channels on that transponder. Edit the other transponders (or add them as new ones) in your receiver settings and do another search.

Oh I do have those sorry I thought they were part of the Tarbs. But the other ones like the research channel and those local channels look really bad, not stable.
