Good signal when checking on receiver but not on the 1020A?

Hello,

Im hoping you can help me out . I have the exact same card the 1020A, so at first I couldn't get a signal I am trying to pick up the Nimiq91 (BEV) which i couldnt from the card so I actually borrowed a receiver from a friend aligned the dish properly and saw a 98-99% signal on Nimiq91 it showed in the installation setup menu that I was locked on the right dish, so I would presume that it would be the same quality signal on the program that I am using to view the channels off the DVB card I am using (RitzDVB) but for some reason it says the quality signal on there is only 40% but meanwhile it says 99% on the receiver?!?!? Would you happen to know why? Thanks for your time and help. Ive been working on getting this to work for about 1 month now,.... :|

If you really mean "quality" above, then it means that you ARE receiving the satellite. Ie you don't get a quality reading unless you are locked on to the signal. However both signal strength and quality readings do not correspond from one receiver to another. I've found that the strength/quality readings on my 1020a generally read lower than on either of my 2 Fortec receivers, however only once have I been able to lock something on the Fortec that I couldn't lock on the Twinhan.
There are three other possibilities that come to mind, however. First, make sure that you have the proper LO freq programmed into the 1020a. Secondly, not likely, but sometimes receivers can be off slightly in freq, so sometimes you can improve the signal by going up or down a bit in freq, perhaps by 5 or 10 MHz. Also you might try varying the SR value a bit. Actually, it might not be your receiver so much as your LNB's LO might be off, and the desktop receiver might be more tolerant of the difference.
Thirdly, if there are any switches in your system, the Twinhan might not be flipping the switches properly. I have found that my 1020a does not control a DiseqC switch properly. This doesn't bother me, because I usually slave the signals off other receivers before it gets to the Twinhan, however the couple times I've tried controlling a Diseq switch, it did not work. Actually, I don't think it is so much the fault of the Twinhan as of the computer, because I put an oscilloscope on the coax, and I can see the Diseqc signals being sent, but there is an even higher level of computer generated noise on the line, that I'm guessing might be interferring. But anyway, you might try bypassing any switch in the system, and try signals on both polarities, in case you aren't switching polarity properly.
Just a few ideas.
