Hey ppl! I'm a newbie preety much when it comes to satalite stuff and i'v been lookin to get a DVB pci card to watch FTA channels in linux. My dad has an old (only like 3 or 4 years old) Dish Network dish that came with the Dish Network package and an old DirecTV dish that came with the DirecTV package. Could i use one of these dishes and a DVB reciever to watch FTA channels? like these http://www.lyngsat.com/freetv/United-States.html
Or do I need to replace somethin on the dish to work with FTA channels?

I would suggest going with at least a 30'' inch dish and linear lnbf. All you could get with the dishnetwork dish are a bunch of audio channels, and a few channels like nasa and gol tv. In order to take advantage of all that's available FTA, you should definately upgrade to at least a 30" inch dish and Lnbf. Hope this helps.
