The dish should be fine. And you are correct that AMC2 is linear. Provided that your LNBF is linear, you should be able to lock signals fine, provided that you have your LO, Freq and SR values programmed right, however as you say, very seldom is anything FTA on that sat. However, you weren't too specific about your lnbf. Ie I've seen both linear and circular lnbfs referred to as "Universal". However, if you bought the lnbf with that dish, it's probably a linear lnbf, and should work on AMC2. I'd look at the specification tag on your lnbf, and it should indicate the LO freq or freqs. If it says 11250, then it is likely a circular DBS lnbf, and it won't work on AMC-2. If however if it has values lower than that, and likely 2 freqs, then it will probably be a linear lnbf that will work.
