What did I do wrong?

I set up my fortec ultra w 90 cm dish and univ. lnb and stab100 rotor today. I show amc 5 at 79w to be my true south sat. My zip is 33024. My problem is I got an 85 Quality in green and 50 signal(but in blue) and when I go to G10ku I get a 40 signal in blue and o quality.I have other sats (like Satmex) that I had a 50 Quality(but signal bar still in blue). If I'm getting a good quality on my true south should'nt I get quality readings on the rest. Why can't I get both bars to go green.

Thanks

Keithzeke

Your Lat & Long coordinates are 26.024273N, 80.240183W

What did you set your motor scale setting to?
What did you set your dish elevation to?
(On initial setup)
What procedure did you use to setup for true south, and AMC5 as true south sat?

How are you moving the dish, USALS or Diseqc 1.2?

PS- dont worry too much about the "Signal" indicator. And it doesn't turn green. Always stays blue on Ultra.

Always peak the green "Quality" indicator for highest reading.

I just installed mine about 2 months ago. I had the same problem . my quality was high on some birds but low or none on others.Nomatter what I did ,it did not make a difference .Sometimes got worse. I was checking everything ,and I found out that my pole was not perfectly level. I went to home depot and lowes to find a bracket that can hold the pole straight and at the same time adjust level on both sides. Unfortunatley,no luck. I had to make my own from scraps. I was able to make the pole level on all sides. Now , I have signal and quality on all birds except ku ofcource. IA5 quality from 91 to 99. the lowest is Pas9 which is 74. I hope this helps.

I know Druzey; it blows my mind. I can never get more than 70-80 max as well.

well people never state the tp either but i think 12090 is probably the strongest and i get 80+. The rest of the tps are 60, going as low as 50

I get about 80-85 average on most transponders, on some I get up to 91-92 and very few are below 70.

I don't know ,if it makes a difference to get such an awsome quality on IA5 if you live down south. One of the tps that has a good quality is 11749 (91&up). I also found out that adjusting the height of the dish can improve quality. At first , I thought by setting my dish too high ,I would get the best quality. But , it was the opposite, and I actually lost picture on some tps by raising my dish a little higher. I don't know if you need to adjust elv of dish whenever you change its height ,or maybe if you lower the dish you can get a better quality, of course as long as you have no obstructions.

If I had a fixed dish then maybe I could have get better qualities but perhaps the motor makes it easier because it does a perfect polarization so you only have to worry about elevation and azimuth. I dunno what makes the difference. For example maybe the difference is a better lnb? Can 0.3 db lnb noise figures be a whole lot different than 0.4 or 0.5 i dont know.
