Diseqc switch and long cable run.

I am having a problem with my dieqc switch working reliably. When I carry the fta ird out to the dish the switch works fine but when I hook it up inside it switches irradiicaly. It's 200' from the switch to the reciever. The cable is rg6 and I have a good picture...just a problem with the switch.

Anybody know of amp I could put in the line to boost the switching signal or of another way to fix this problem?

Sounds a lot like the same problem I had a few weeks ago, though my cable run was a lot shorter than yours (see this thread):

I ordered another switch (a 2-input instead of a 4-input, to see if that helps) but I'm still waiting for the switch to arrive. I'll let you know how it works when it gets here.

I ordered another switch too. I have 3 sats working so I need a 4 port.

If the switch doesn't help I looking changing my lnbs to dish pro and using a sw34 rather than the diseqc switch...

I'll keep you posted too...

Best thing to do is to get the switch installed half way. You will need more cables to go from the dishes to the switch. Over 100' of cable the receiver would not be able to control the switch.

Swictch issues

I have been reading on this til my eyes pop out of my skull.
I have found that the closer you install your switch to the receiver the better reception it will get. I also purchased a 4X1 CHIETA switch from ebay and that seems to work really well. Even if it rain dogs and cats here in Southern California for the past couple of weeks, I am still able to get nothing less than 80% signal.
Just thought that may be some help to you folks.

Tunaman out.

I have 200' run that is buried so the amp in the middle is not possible.

Is there amp that will boost the diseqc signal?

Well, it was something of an ordeal, but after two e-mails, one phone call and four weeks of waiting, I finally got my 2-into-1 switch.

Well, doggone, it was worth the wait! Works just fine, even when it’s connected way out at the dishes.

However, if I do add a third dish someday, I’ll still have to go and buy another 4-into-1 switch, and just hope that one isn’t as fussy on the one I got earlier.
