***Cables underground***

I am thinking about installing my dish about 50 feet away from the house because its the only spot i have a small clear view to the sky.
Therefore , I am thinking about running the cables underground from dish to the house.
Will I need special cables for that or can i use regular cables to do that.???
Thanks for your help

You can use regular RG6 underground. Just make sure to use a good quality cable (such as Belden or Commscope) and make sure to avoid backfilling the trench with sharp, jagged rocks.

The best way to do it is to run the cable in conduit to prevent damage to it.
You should be able to get 50 feet of plastic conduit for less than $20.

If this cable is all you need to run, and the run is 50ft, use garden hose.

Yeah, garden hose would work fine. Or that flexible black plastic pipe they use for cold water plumbing. Poly pipe I think its called. Or use nothing. I have buried lots of cable in just plain dirt and not very deep (4 inches or even under the sod). Never had a problem. Well, only once... when a guy put in a new driveway and the contractor cut the cable accidentally. But he was using a backhoe to dig so even a cable protected in a conduit would have been ruined. Its your call but don't get all worked up over it...
