Rotator to Dish Attachment

The mount on my dish is too small to attach the HH120 rotator directly. I was able to attach the rotator to a pole which extends from the dish. Is it OK to do this or will I not be able to track the entire arc?

Also, I do not have any documentation on this dish, but it has an elevation scale stamped into it. Can it be trusted for calculating the dish/rotator angle?

Thanks,
Charles

Re: Rotator to Dish Attachment

As long as it's stable, I think the angle the rotator moves in relation to the dish surface will be the same thru it's rotation. So you will be fine.

As long as the 2 U bolts won't allow the dish to move. You've only got the contact of the 2 pipes at their outer circumfereance touching.
I'd be more worried about it twisting in the wind at that spot and getting out of kilter...

Re: Rotator to Dish Attachment

It does not look stabe enough for me. I would get a universal mount instead. Do it right at first place so you don't need to take the dish down to fix it. Make it worse, the dish might fly to your next neighbor house...:-)

I agree with pmb and Mikey. One big wind and that pan is gonesville. You should get a clamp mount adapter although I'm not sure if one is available for a Winegard.

Rotator to Dish Attachment

OK, I added two more U-brackets. They are tightened so that the satellite post conforms somewhat to the curve of the rotator post. Also the bar across the U brackets are conforming to the satellite post. The U-brackets are pretty close to the diameter of the rotator post so it touches in several places. It feels pretty sturdy, but I'll be keeping an eye on it.

Re: Rotator to Dish Attachment

If your dish is in a quite place, then it should be OK. If it's on the roof or hight place, it does not seem good enough for me when it's windy. Beleive me, when it's windy, the dish will easilly twisted espcially when the dish at extream East/West position. Anyways, it's your call. If I were you, I would go for a universal mount (if it's available). Tuning a h-h mount is not an easy task for some, so imagine even if the dish twisted a bit, you will have to retune it.
Have fune when tuning your h-h mount.
