Atlantic Bird at 12.5 West

Hi,

Could you help me with something? I have a dish pointed at 97 west for
ethnic channels and now there is a albanian channel on Atlanic bird at 12.5
west. Would you be able to tell me how far to the left i have to go to get
it? I tried the tools on your web site without any luck.

Any help would be greatly appeciated.

Thank You

It would be good to know where are you at. If you are on the east coast you should be able to get it, but any further inland it is going to be harder as elevation is low.

Well, you sort of answered your own question.

"I have a dish pointed at 97 west for
ethnic channels and now there is a albanian channel on Atlanic bird at 12.5 west. "

97 - 12.5 = 84.5 degrees.

Whereever you are pointing your dish at for 97, subtract 84.5 from that compass setting, and you will be pointing at this new one. The relative postion between them stays the same, no matter where you are.

Re: Atlantic Bird at 12.5 West

Your formular is not correct. On the ground, we view the arc as a rainbow.
The differences between sats has no relation to the azimuth changes at all.
When moving towards the extream East/West, he needs to add or subtract more than the differences between the original sat (T5 in this case) and the new sat (Atlantic bird). In other words, he needs to subtract more than 84 degs if using your formular. Use the online calculator instead.

Re: Atlantic Bird at 12.5 West

Now that you mention it, I think you're right.
If we were at the equator my stuff would hold.
But since we're higher towards the north pole, the track becomes a parabola (of sorts) and no longer linear...
