Dead LNB??? How to know?

I have a Fortec system from Sadoun I just ordered. When I first set up the system, I trailed a 100 ft cable from inside the house out to the yard to test everything before installing. The satellite finder made all sorts of sounds and the needle moved as I steered the antenna around. Then it stopped working suddenly, when I wasn't doing anything. Cycling the power brought it back for a few minutes, and then dead again. No matter where I point the dish now, I get a reading of 74% signal on the Fortec and nothing on the satellite finder. When I got rid of the 100 foot cable and brought the Fortec box and a TV outside, I got 64% as the signal strength, no matter where the dish was pointed. I've been trying to roughly point the thing towards Galaxy 10.

What to do?

Brian

I don't think LNBs die that easily.

Try to achieve signal and quality without using the satellite finder, just your receiver. Also make sure you are using an active transponder on G10R to peak your signal. Use 11719 V 27692.

If your LNB was dead then it would be showing nothing. 0 percent quality and signal. It is probably just a matter of adjusting your dish accurately.

The second time around, with the Fortec box outside, I had no signal meter and a three foot cable. The quality has always been zero percent.
On signal strength, I used to get a changing response with dish angle, but now none. Hmmmmm.

Within a few minutes of posting, I was already spammed at my address my drugstore.com. I only use it here. It would be nice if sadoun did a better job of hiding the email addresses...

Because the email address in question has only been used here and with my Sadoun order. I own my own domain, and create email addresses at will.
