Dish Problems

Ok, I got a different dish from my brother (mine got damaged in a storm this
summer) anyway it is a 2 LBNF dish with a model 3900 receiver. I am only
using one receiver, one tv one room, not duals. Anyway I aligned it on 119W
and have a 96% signal on 119W, yet I can only get about a 3rd of the channels..example I can get ESPN alternate but can not get ESPN (yes
have a subscription) Or I can get Disney but I can not get a NBC feed and so
forth. I asjusted evertying again, skew whole works and ended up with 98% yet I can not get anything do download. The error msg on the screen will say you have a bad cable, too much cable, etc but all the cable is new RG 6 and also gives signal lock lost, but when check it;s still at 98%. I read something about the switch but from I see on the web, I do not have a switch for this system...do I need one???? As for cable the total run is about 25 feet on my new location (old one I had about 85 feet and never had problems..connectors are all solid and check good)

Any ideas on what the deal is? Someone said you have to get a signal on
both 119 and 110 (110 shows same amout of signal but in red and says wrong
sat posistion and indicated 119 W. My old one (dish 301 single) was not this difficult to put up and I put up several for friends over the years. But
this one has got me good....does the phone line need to be hooked up to
get the data? Any help appreciated. By the way please do not say call DISH network Tech support, I tried that and got a person who knew less than I did and hard to understand as they were having a problem with english (does DISH tec h support come out of India like Dell computers???
no wonder can't get answers!)

Thanks

Did you run a "CHECK SWITCH" test? Try that. I suspect you have a Dish 500 setup. If you still have problems then I think your 119 LNB is pointing at 110 and your 110 LNB is pointing at nothing; well, at least nothing EchoStar. You will need to realign the dish. The phone line does not have to be plugged in.

Ok, will retry it, it says it is locked on 119W at 98% so thats what is really
bugging me. Will try and re-align again and see what happens . Once I
know I have 119W for sure then 110 should also be green is that correct? That is what someone else told me.
Also the check switch is new to me, had an x in one box, do not recall
which now. What should the values be if I have a correct point and lock
in that?

Thanks for your assistance

If the switch check results show an "X" anywhere then you have a problem. Check for a bad LNB or cable or connection on the 110 slot. The correct results will show "119/EVEN/ODD" and "110/EVEN/ODD".
