Dish aiming

Hi,
I have a Vistar 2000 receiver. I always get a signal value of "93" and signal quality "low" when I try to aim the Dish. Is my receiver & LNBF working fine? Why do I always get the same value for signal. I never thought it was so difficult to point a dish to satellite.
I know my azimuth and elevation but how do I know what elevation is my dish is looking at? I mean it is so big and how do I measure angle of my dish.
I am in detroit MI so my elevation comes to 40 and azimuth 200. I have a elliptical dish and a offset LNBF from Pansat. Any suggestions? Is there any magnetic variation to my azimuth? How do I accurately know that my dish infact pointing at certain azimuth?

Thanks
Ashish

Magnetic deviation for Detroit is about +4*

Check the LNBF Skew and try to adjust it. Use and Angle Finder to help you measure the dish elevation specially if your dish doesn't have an elevation scale on the back of it.

For Azimuth, you have to use a good compass. Keep it away from any metal object when you are trying to find the right direction.
