General Questions

Can anyone please answer the following general questions?

1) Does using 100’ cable vs. 50’ affect the quality or signal?
2) Does it matter if you are installing the satellite when it is very cloudy? Should you still be able to find the satellite?
3) Is there a way to tell if the LBN is working properly?
4) Does the elevation have to be adjusted if you are installing on top of 15 story building?

Thank YOU

The shorter the cable the better. However, for RG6 a cable up to 100' should be ok without any noticable signal lose. High quality shielded cables have been used for even longer runs with no signal lose.

Very cloudy will reduce the signal. Rain will reduce it further. A big dish can still get the signal even under these conditions. Installing the dish under these conditions will still be ok but more challenging.

If you see signal on your receiver, it is working properly. If no signal at all, check whether the LNB power is on, if yes, make sure there are no shorts in the coax cable. If none found and still no signal, LNB could be
bad.

4) Does the elevation have to be adjusted if you are installing on top of 15 story building?
A small adjustment could be required to optimize the signal.
