No Quality On G10

Noobie needs to find out what's going on here & how can I fix it? Your assistance will be very much appreciated.

I just installed a .76cm dish with Pansat PM900 motor & 2300 receiver. Now I'm in the process of getting it aimed & setup to hit the majority of available FTA satellites using USALS. By the way; my dish sees clear sky - no obstructions what so ever.

I'm getting 90% quality on 9 birds between 61.5 (Echo 3) to 110.0 (Echo 8) so it appears that I'm on the arc. However, when I try to setup my most westerly bird at 123.0 (Galaxy 10), I get good signal strength but no quality at all.

Since my Pansat 2300 receiver still has the factory default satellite menu, it's likely "out of date". I found that I had to manually scan transponders on some birds to find those that were active. I've tried all of the G10 transponders but never got any quality.

Is this an "aiming" or a "receiver setup" issue? What can I try to resolve it?

Best regards

Re: No Quality On G10

You did not tell us how you set the diseqc mount up. Did you aim it at your truesouth sat first?

All done by the book (due south, etc.) & mast is super plumbed! Nine (9) satellites being received with 90% quality. Using USALS not diseqc 1.2.

If the mout tracks the arc correctly, you should get all the sats viewable in your area. Try to "nudge" the dish.

Thanks for the reply Michael, it's appreciated.

So it sounds like you believe this is an "aiming" rather than "receiver setup" issue. Do I understand correctly? By the way, when you say "nudge" do you mean azimuth (not elevation).

I had no trouble at all getting the first nine birds to give 90% quality but I never tried to "tweak/nudge" azimuth or elevation on G10. It's definitely within my bore sight since it's at 123.0 & I'm at 83.0. G10 is just short of my western motor limit at 83+47=130 degrees. To get to that position, the motor has to move 44.2 degrees or 83+44.2=127.2 (4.2 deg. for declination).

I wish now that I had also tried the birds between 110.0 & 123.0 (G10). That might give me a better idea if it's an aiming issue.

Best regards

9 sats on both side or just one side of the arc? It's more like a "aiming" issue than "receiver" issue. Diseqc mount needs to set "nearly" perfect to get all the sats. If not, one might pick: all sats of one side of the arc, some sats but not the ones at the the end of the ard's side (extream EAst/West)....
