Satseeker and 4 way diseqc switch

Just got my Aston Satseeker but........
I cant lock any signal with a 4 way diseqc switch between my Aston Satseeker
DS200 and the LNBs. If I take the switch out signal is great, if I take the
Satseeker out the switch works. I can move the dish with commands from
the receiver to the Satseeker so, I know commands are getting that far.

My original setup is like this
Twinhan 1020 ------> 4way diseqc =====> LNBs

I want to add a Satseeker so I can move my BUD like this
Twinhan --------> Satseeker --------> 4way diseqc ======> LNBs

The connections on the Satseeker are pretty straight forward, the F-conn
labeled as LNB is going to the switch, the F-conn labeled as receiver is
connected to the Twinhan.

The label on the 4way switch says "LAVA".

I tried DVBapps, MyTheatre, and Twinhan VisionData to lock signal.
Is the Satseeker stopping the diseqc commands from getting to my switch?

Thanks for any help.

Satseeker uses DiSEqC commands. So when you put a DiSEqC swicth it will conflict with the satseeker. You will have to use different switch such as a 0/22KHz or 0/12V switch.

Or you could have the following setup

Receiver
|
|
0/12V or 0/22KHz SW ====>Satseeker===>LNB
|
|
DiSEqC SW=======>LNBFs

Thanks for your quick reply.

In your alternate configuration, it looks like I would only be able to use the
Satseeker with one LNB, am I reading that right?
I have 3 LNBs on the BUD.

I thought Diseqc is a bus that can have multiple devices on it, does the
Satseeker not follow spec?

My software has options to specify IDs for the Diseqc devices, and you can set
a number for resending the command. Do you know how to figure out which
ID a device has? Or does that depend on when they're powered on.

I just realized something, this is a French unit, they use different AC voltage
than US. It seems to be running fine on 120VAC, did you modify them to work
on US power?

Yes we replace the power supply with a 110V. We just ran out of 110V power supplies. we only have the 220V version left. A transformer will be needed.

You might want to use the second cable, if you have one, from your BUD to hook up the o/22KHz switch.

After reading all of the diseqc bus spec, and looking through all the options
in my software I'm convinced that I should be able to put a diseqc positioner
and switch on the same line(bus).

It Works!

Well, I have half of it working now.
It's a good thing I never listen when people tell me something cant be done.
It behaves much better when I dont have an LNB on port 3 of the switch.
So my switch might not be up to par, it seems like alot of people have had
trouble with diseqc switches and the Twinhan 1020a.
It does work like I wanted it to and the way the spec says it should as long as I
dont use that port. It may also be a combination of where the LNBs are
located on the switch.
My switch is labeled as "LaVa" and is diseqc 2.0, are there some better
quality switches I should look for.

chinesebob;...I use lava exclusively,but not with BUD or C band.I swear by them.I use them in conjunction with the nexus-s board,and they seem very compatible.I have tried Pansat and several others.swamp.
