No shy people around here

What satellite are you aiming at? What receiver, lnb? Did you select a correct LNB in the setup? Are you selecting an active transponder (one that is listed on lyngsat.com and has programming on it all the time)?

Did you first align your motor and dish with your true south satellite? If you are in california, I amguessing that your longitude is somewhere around 120W+ so I am guessing G10R would be your true south satellite.

If you are using a motorized system, it is recommended that you first fine tune it to your true south satellite, then go farthest east and fine tune it and go to the westernmost satellite and tune it ther. This will ensure that you are tracking the arc properly.

He said it very clearly; I suggest you do a little reading in the HH-Motor forum and also in the Sadoun website. There are complete instructions there for setting up a motorized dish.

Your true south satellite depends on your location. The true south satellite is not one particular sat; your true south sat would be different than the one for a guy in say, New Jersey. vj9999 said for your location that G10R is probably your true south satellite. You have to know this first before aligning the dish on the motor. Reason being that this sat will be at the highest point on the arc from your perspective. All other sats, east and west, will have lower elevation angles. If you don't set the motor alignment based on your true south satellite then the dish will not track the arc properly and will not find other satellites. Think of an arc with a little dot at its highest point -- that 'dot' would be your true south satellite. Sadoun's motor instructions explain all this very well.

re: newbies

Just something from a recent newbie, maybe it might be best to put the motor in a drawer for awhile and learn how to walk before you run. Tune in just a single satellite, learn to use the receiver then manually move to another sat, once you have done this abit everything else will be a bit clearer.
