old dtv lnb

I remember reading somwhere that you can add a direct LNB next to my universal lnb. I can't remember what the settings were and the instructions for setting this up can anyone help?

Yes, it's possible. You'll need a "switch" to merge the two LNB's into 1 cable back to the receiver. FTA receivers use DISEQC as a method to switch from one LNB to the other. You define which port on the switch is in use when you setup the satellite you are attempting to view. I ended up with a 2 port switch, it has labels A and B. If I want the FTA LNB I use Port A on the Sat setup screen. It's easy...

Depending on how your dish moves, you will need to compensate for the LNB being lashed to the side of the FTA LNB. You can use DISEQC 1.2 to position the dish in the right spot, or if using USALS adjust the sat's postion a few degrees to compensate. It was posted just recently that someone said theirs was 4 degrees different.

THere are a bunch of receivable music channels on Dish's satellite, and a few unscrambled channels. Any of the one's I've managed to receive say "welcome to dish 500" or "welcome to superdish", useless anyway.
The music stuff is OK to have in the background once in a while, so if you have a spare LNB it's worth it.

You can get a 2 port switch here:
