Which LNBs will work with FTA recievers?

I have had a 10' c/ku system for 10 years and am now adding an FTA system to get more channels.
I have a toroidal 20" dish and was wondering if I could use any dual LNB that dosen't have a switch built in. How about the LNB's with the built in multi switch?
Do I need to purchase a seperate switch to view 2 or more satellites?

The LNB you need depends on what satellites you hope to pull in. Most FTA KU sats use linear polarity so you need a linear - either standard or universal. DTH birds (like DTV and DN) use circular. Either way you need a DiSEqC type switch for use with FTA receivers. DN SW's will not work; generally, any LNB that has a built in switch will be incompatible with FTA switching. Some people have reported success with the DN DishPro switches but I think this is not verified as 100 % compatible.

Furthermore, the toroidal dish uses reverse-polarity LNBs and these are sometimes hard to find.

I remember I already answer this question to you on VTV4 section. The answer is NO. Dish is way small, wrong lnbf type. You will need a 30" or larger, with a linear lnbf to get T5, AMC4.....

You can get a h-h mount to move the dish, attach a directv lnbf next to the linear one, use a Diseqc switch to switch between the 2 lnbfs, you will get all satellites (both linear and circular) assuming the diseqc mount track the arc correctly. Use the search feature. We discussed about this many times before.
