Setting 22khz Switch

Some one - Please clarify what the receiver settings should be for 22 khz switching of two separate lnbfs' on a motorized dish. I've searched the forum and find very little on this subject. I presume the switch works as it appears? In other words; if the receivers 22khz setting is "Off" then the selected LNBF is "Off" &/or vice versa.

What confuses me though is how to set the switch if it's being used with two LNB's. The normal 22khz receiver setting with only one lnbf & no switch is "off" for all birds. With two LNB's & a switch, do you set (only the) 22khz to "On" to use the second lnbf for a specific bird (leaving all of the other birds set to "Off")?

Said another way; a 22khz switch has three ports. Two are labeled as LNB 1 or LNB 2. The third goes to a Pansat 2300 receiver which has only two settings for the 22khz switch - ON or OFF. The switch doesn't actually know which of the two LNB's it's connected to. The receiver (setting) tells it to be ON or OFF for a specific bird.

Using as an example; how about two LNB's? Lets say one is linear and the other has circular polarization! The LNB 1 port is connected to an LNB that is linear polarized. Do you set the receiver so 22khz is ON (or OFF) for all of the birds that are linear polarized (being received on LNB 1)?

And then, if the LNB 2 port is connected to an LNB that is circular polarized, do you set the receiver to ON (or OFF) for these birds?

Here's where I get confused. If ALL BIRDS (regardless of which LNB receives them) are set to (let's say) "ON" - how does the 22khz switch know which LNB it's supposed to control? It seems some birds may have to be ON and some have to be OFF for the switch to know which it's supposed to be controlling.

Please help me to understand these settings. your help will be very much appreciated.

Re: Setting 22khz Switch

Don't confuse between 22khz and Diseqc switch. You have Diseqc switch, so you must set Diseqc ports accordingly to your connection.
22khz option is used for 22khz switch. The option is grey-off if users use universal lnbf.

Thanks for the reply Michael, it's much appreciated.

If I understand your comment correctly, you're saying that a "so-called" 22khz switch is just another name for a two port DISEqC switch. Therefore, the receiver is setup as if it were using two ports of a four port DISEqC switch. Do I have that right?

Summarizing this into receiver settings, I interpret thusly - Set the DISEqC for LNB connected to port 1 to DISEqC #1 in receiver setup and LNB connected to port 2 to DISEqC #2. And the 22khz option in the receiver is set to "ON" to activate automatic control of ports for all birds. Is that right?

From a similar post on another forum, I got this advice. "The circular lnb I would set 22khz on, all others (on linear lnb, my guess) off, turn power on for ALL lnb's"! Does that make sense to you?

Best regards
