signal booster

bobkat;...just installed a nexus-s system for FTA.dual system...basement billiards room and 3rd floor master.works great,except fuzzy.I went to ratshack for an audio/video transceiver that I have used before,but not over this distance(60')....do ya know if a regular cable booster will boost a diplexed sat/cable signal properly,and will it also boost the Radio Frequencied signal after that?..this is not my area of expertise!cheers...

and TIA...the swampster.

Hey swamp;

I don't think those cable boosters will amplify satellite signals due to their limited frequency range which probably cuts out at around 950 MHz. What you could try is boosting the satellite first with a line amp and then feed the whole mess through the cable booster. Might work although I haven't had a whole lot of luck with those line amps. :roll:

If you're refering to the inline amplifier type , I use them on most of my satellite equipment due to all the switching and spliiting I do inside at the receivers. Look up Radio Shack part # 16-1156 They are rated at 950-2050 Mhz . I attatch mine directly to the lnb output. The closer to the dish/lnb the better. You can see them attatched to the lnbs in my webshots at the link in my sig.

Actually swamp... now that I think about it... forget the cable booster idea. It won't amplify the satellite signal -- boosted or not. You still have the high IF frequency running through the diplexer.

I know, I know..... now I tell you after you bought the cable booster... :roll:

Bobkat;...just saw your post;ok...I'm gonna use the CABLE booster AFTER I diplex it out.Then,use an inline sat booster to boost going into the PC with the DVB board.Now,here is where it gets sticky.Outta the PC,I'm sending RF A/V to another tv...should I put an inline sat booster BEFORE or AFTER the Radio Frequencied signal? 8)

Sorry swampster -- guess its just that time of the month... :lol: :lol: :shock:

Now, what was your question? Oh yeah, signal boosters. Well, out of the PC you just have RF, no? So you wouldn't put an inline sat booster there. Put another cable booster for that. Put the sat inline booster on the SAT port of the diplexer before it enters the PC card.

If that doesn't work, then turn up the sonic oscillator . . . ONE MORE NOTCH !!!! :lol: :lol:

that should do the trick!!! ok...coming OUT of the PC,I go to one tv,and split to another through an RF modulator.THAT is where i'm gonna put the inline booster.Our little chat has given me vision,grasshopper!

swamp.
