Telestar 5 reception in S-America?

What equipment is needed to receive Telestar 5 in Venezuela? Do I have to use a bigger dish instead of what is shipped by ? Many thanks for your advice!!!

I don't think you can get Telstar5 from your location. Check out the link below for its footprint:

A local installer of directTV located in Venezuela told me that a 1,8m dish would receive the signal. Suppose I cannot trust his advice?

I wouldn't. The footprint barely touches Venezuela on the C-band and doesn't even come close on KU. I would say no way for T5 down there.

yes, it works!

My technican invited me to one of his customers.
And we had a pretty good reception-quality (29-42%).
A 180cm ChannelMaster Dish was used.
My problem now: The technican will charge 600USD for the dish and 250USD for the installation.
After I found a 180cm Dish at Sadoun for only 170USD its worth importing it to Venezuela.
Now, 2 infos I need:

1. what kind of LNB do I need?
2. can I install the system myself?

Thanks a lot for your advice!
