problem w/2*4 multiswitch

I installed a SADOUN S-SM24 2IN 4OUT multiswitch, but it's not working. The unit does "click" after installation and there's an intermittant signal at the receivers but that's it.

If I unhook the multiswitch and connect the cable ends together, things work fine. I get a strong signal at my receivers so it's not the cable or connectors.

I have a standard directv dish with dual LNB. I made sure that the LNB A and B lines are connected to the right input plug.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Peter

Re: problem w/2*4 multiswitch

Test both ports of your lnbf by connecting it to your receiver directly to see if both are working. If either one does not function, you can't get signal after the switch. What is your set up?

Yeah. Tested both ports of the LNB by connecting to receivers and they work fine.

I have a simple setup: Directv circular dish with dual LNB connected to 2*4 multiswitch connected to 3 receivers. Unused multiswitch output port terminated with 75 ohm terminator.

There's a short distance between the dish and multiswitch (few feet). The cable distances between multiswitch and receivers are between 30 and 80 feet.

Thanks,
Peter

signal is degraded when using switch. You might be consider switch with in-line power instead of passive one although the passive works most of the time. Seems like something wrong with the switch.

If you mean here that you have one LNBF on your dish with two outputs, then the swicth might be defective (that is assuming you are using good RG6 cable with no splitters in the middle).

If you have two LNBFs on your dish, then you will need to use a 4x4 switch (item # 7 here: http://sadoun.com/Sat/Order/Switches.htm)

Don't hook up the switch when the power of the receiver is on... you might fried the switch.
