Setting up USALS with Satcontroll SM3D12 HH motor

I have successfully set up my satellite dish equipment and everything seems to work fine. When I change between dishes, the motor seems to aim to the correct dish and I get a pretty good signal for almost every satellite. Today I noticed something that I cannot seem to explain. The motor rotates and aims properly at my Southern-most satellite (Telstar 5) and all of the satellites to the West of that. However, it will not rotate any further East than my Southern-most satellite. My location is in Ruston, LA (longitude=92.6 W and latitude=32.5 N). In the DiSEqC 1.3 setup I had to set my longitude to 267.4 E, which should be equivilant to 92.6 W, and my latitude to 32.5 N. USALS seems to work perfectly for my Southern-most satellite (Telstar 5), which is 97 W and for satellites such as Galaxy 10R (123 W) and AMC 4 (101 W). For satellites East of Telstar 5, such as AMC 5 (79 W) and AMC 3 (87 W), the motor still rotates the proper distance, but still in the Western direction. This does not make any since to me. The equipment I purchased is a Fortec Star DVB-735NA receiver, a Fortec Star FC90CM 36" pole-mount satellite dish, a Satcontroll SM3D12 HH motor, and a Fortec Star FSKU-2v digital/analog universal KU LNBF. My setup for the Antenna Settings are as follows:

Antenna: 1
LNB Type: Universal
LNB Power: V/H
DiSEqC: Off
12V: On

Any help would really be appreciated. I want to say it must be a software problem with the receiver. My Boot Version is 1.00, APPL Version is 1.18 NT, and C.A. Version is 0.00. Has anyone else experience similar problems. Thanks for you help in advance. MDProuty

I don't know if your receiver has a "SET LIMITS" feature under the DiSEqC 1.2 or 1.3 setup menus but its worth a try. Make sure the limits are not set. This may or may not apply to your situation. I remember setting my HH100 motor with a SatCruiser receiver and I had to disable the limits before the motor worked properly. In all fairness though, I did not use the USALS feature primarily because I couldn't figure it out....

DiSEqC 1.3 does not have a set limits option. DiSEqC 1.2 does have this feature, but I am not using DiSEqC 1.2. I checked to make sure no limits were set just in case they effected one another and I even did a clear limits to make double sure. However, I still have the problem.

I don't think you need to have 12v on. Make sure your physical limits are set with no limits. And most important your lat and long settings have to be correct.

on your Longitude value, you could switch to 92.6 W. To change the E to W use the Page Up button on your remote.

Also, you don't need the 12V ON unless you have a 0/12V switch connected to your receiver.

Change the positioner settings to DiSEqC 1.2. In that menu, select 0 Reference. This will "recalibrate" the motor. The motor will move all the way EAST (that is normal in this motor) then go back to 0 position. Change back to DiSEqC 1.3 and check again.

After the above, if all fails, try to do a MASTER RESET on your receiver and search the satellites again.

Good luck and happy surfing.
